I don’t even put MANPADs in my practice runs anymore because they always hit. Always. Yes I flare like hell and go only military power and pull but they never miss. I do identical pop up attack like you.

they never hit for me even when i dont flare at all to try and get hit so i can do some cinematic crash land or wtv

Your afternburner is also a big "look at me" thing for MANPADs

Preflare (1-2 flares per second through all the attack when you are within 3 miles from the supposed MANPADs) and fly >650 knots all the time. Egress with a slight climb doing a slight turn from the target. Flare extra, change egress direction without loosing too much speed and dive back to the ground if you see MANPADs being fired at you. This way missile will need to change the lead, loose more energy and more likely to eat flares. I've practiced this a lot in the editor in the Hornet as it's much slower thus more difficult, and so far so good.

Shwweeet ! maan those guys are back in the stone age, and that final heater eating into your lead and taking you down was awesome! great vid!

Your videos are awesome! Really clearly explained and demonstrated! Could you maybe do a video showing how to destroy a SA10 + SA15 site with the Viper? I can deal with each of them separately, but when they are working together and are in one location, it makes it very difficult. Thanks and keep the Viper Wild Weasel videos coming!

Hey man, thanks for the video. A very cool mission set. I would love to fly with you sometime. Do you have a discord server??

No I think it’s just because the Igla is bugged. It tracks almost too well and it’s pretty much impervious to flares.

If it's an SA-24 then yeah, welcome to modern MANPADS.

If you are pre-flaring (1-2 flares each second) and keeping >650 knots through all attack you are going to be fine. Without pre-flaring with a burner on and a rear hemisphere exposed you are asking to be shot down by some random dude with a rocket pipe. Flaring after MANPADs launch is not that effective unless you roll covering your exhaust from a missile POV. Rolling is a valid tactics for a10c since it's slow and has hundreds of flares onboard and it's engines are rather masked by the frame if you egress by 60-90 degrees from the target. Multirole fighters on the other hand must be very fast as they don't have these amounts flares and the engine heat is much higher even in mil power.

Not that it’d change the result but maybe turn off your lights when in the AO :) Love your vids, just binged them all.

I still think it'd be a good habit to stick to 5.5G max, because pulling 8.0G+ will be a difficult habit to kick once DCS actually gets over-G effects on stores. Will be relatively funny though once the forums light up with "why my bombs not arming" posts, though.

@@andreww7564 Yep, it is quite easy to over-G the F-16, even in CAT-III. Real-world pulls in pop-up are 5.0G~ vertical pull, 3.0G~ pull to the run-in and 5.0G~ escape pull. It's a bit easier if you can just yank 8.0G out.
