Pulling 11g's over 20 seconds literally has the possibility to cause serious injuries. The F-16 has an angled seat so the pilot doesn't feel a small (but not insignificant) fraction of the g's but the airframe isn't designed to pull those 11g's either. There's a reason the g-limiter caps out around 7-8g's and even that's pretty high. Gaijin needs to implement the FBW system as we get more and more modern since we also shouldn't even be able to wing rip.

This F-16 has the earlier 23,830lb ft thrust engine. The F-16C has the 29,000lbft engine. However, the F-16C also weighs considerably more. The fastest F-16's ever produced both in acceleration and top speed, was the F-16A Block 20. It did not have the most powerful engine ever in the F-16, but it was lightweight, and had a very high exhaust velocity, as well as a lower drag coefficient than later models.

I’ve often pulled 4Gs while flying and I can’t even imagine pulling 11 for more than a second.

Even though they are only Gen 4 aircraft, I think the F16 and F18 are the epitome of dog-fighting aircraft. Both can hold a sustained turn at the limit of pilot endurance (around 9g) and both can climb vertically, which means that you can fight equally well in the horizontal and vertical planes. I hope Gaijin will create "missile free" arenas where players can hone their dogfighting skills. Good to see you "phlying" again.

Never thought I would see 4th gen fighters in war thunder especially the F-16 and MIG-29 it’s insane, even have an die cast model off an F-16, it’s crazy to even see them in game.

I happen to be lucky enough to work around these bad boys and even though I am FAR from being able to research it, it’s awesome to see in game finally. Yea they’re still making more but we’re trading most of ours for the f-35 so we’ll see how well that goes lol

My dad was an F 18 pilot, and is now a civilian fighter pilot... pulling even 9gs sustained is a lot... 10 gs and 11gs is strong enough to bend airframes, and the pilot can't do that sustained . My dad says the max he pulls is 9 for short periods of time.

The Mig-29 currently has a missile in contention with Gaijin and community, the R-73. It's a nasty bugger; decent all aspect range and a 40+G overload. However, it can quite easily be flared, so idk why it's in contention at all. The missile we must all fear is the R-27T. It's bigger and a little slower, doesn't pull as hard, but it has fully functional ECCM, and the seeker FOV is insanely off-bore, yet has only a 1 degree LOS. It's basically impossible to flare, and not much chance of out-pulling it.

it's interesting you mention the F-16 making a potentially good carrier aircraft, because it competed with the VF-17 a 2nd time for the navy. it's called the Vought 1600, typical changes like strengthened airframe and lower wing loading.

at this level of the game, you're gonna need combination flares and chaff, because R-27Rs do not care about flares. doesn't help that the R-27Ts have ECCM too.

Something neat about the f-16 is that it is the second plane in history to be able to climb vertically right after takeoff thanks to it's massive 1000 f/s climb rate

As the F/A 18 is only 4 years younger I wouldn't be surprised if that is in the next update.

I would love to see the early version of the F-16 be able to load AIM-7s like it was in real life. If there are 'later variant's involved, they should add the AIM-120 (if not already in the game, I don't know I don't play tons of high tier air craft).

I've got to sit in the cockpit of one of these bad boys and got to do some fun assists with repairs with the ANG for a school to work program. They are one of the lightest fighters out there and it makes them nimble as a dragonfly. We had C/D but they are fantastic for all-rounders. The pilots love them so much

make sure to drop the after burner when popping flares, otherwise the flares wont do jack.

They didn't change anything about how fast your pilot blacks out It's just that the F-16 is so darn fast and good at keeping its speed that you stay well around the Mach 1 mark while also pulling these 9+G manoeuvres

The cockpit was designed to give the pilot greater visibility, particularly looking down.

Clean/2missiles F16 is limited by fbw to 9g's. It can pull more though. During slowing down from mach1 at max elevator viper pulls little more. At least in dcs

Talking about suspended pilot and front wheel being way back. I didn't really noticed this on F16... However I did noticed that on su27 and I LOVE that aspect of that particular plane!

I found that for best performance (As of that battle custom battle you were in (Was in the same one)), flying around .80 Mach allowed for almost no grey/black out on a full pull. Dogfights were close but the F-16 has a good edge if you manage well. Your one teammate, Bedi17 (J-7E) and I had a great low alt dogfight during that match and was anyone's victory until another player came in. Countermeasures proved effective against MiG-29's new missiles but you HAVE to keep an eye out for them and use mixed countermeasures since most MiG-29 players were using both IR and Radar. Scout out the air before an attack, pounce on those who look like they have tunnel vision on an ally. If you get into a close (mostly gun) dogfight, watch that speed and a few times I've tried but you can easily get someone to overshoot you with your air break. Without the BVR capacities right now, Mig-29 has great mid to long range advantage, but the F-16 can really hold well in a 1v1. If I would've known you were in the same match I would've baited on ya. I never expected this to happen back in 2013 when I joined this fantastic game.

i've piloted MIG29 in the airforce (RMAF) for 6 years then being change to F18 G now. Based on my experience, piloting MIG29 NM (smoking bandit) it got superior manueverability, longer range,high capacity ammunition and easy to pilot. MIG29 built to compete with F15 Eagle and F16 Falcon. During mock combat (Cope Predator Exercise July 2020) that i've experienced i managed to shoot down F16 and for your informtion MIG 29 are compitable to equipped with NATO munitions such JDAM and AIM 7/9 not mentioning guided munition but with some platform modification. And last week my F18 doing mock combat with SU30 MKM and its difficult to combat such aircraft with high manuevarability.

Fun fact: the 30-06 Springfield cartridge can fire a 180 grain projectile at the same exact velocity as the top speed of the F-15 Strike Eagle, which is 1,875 mph (2,750 ft per sec)!

I get the feelign the F-16 has the export version engine, but without digging my book out i'm not 100% sure early US models didn't have a weaker engine. Also as others have mentioned in reality there would be a G limiter built into the control system, (Which also controls the combat flaps, leading edge devices, e.t.c.). The F-16 also as i recall had to have it's control sensitivity at very low velocities reduced due to test pilots suffering excessive tailstrikes due to just how hard it could nose up at even takeoff speeds.

The thing about the last video, the F16 that was covered was the F16C. Which has a more powerful engine than the F16A. The F16A having nearly 20000 pounds of force with afterburner. The F16C has 29000 pounds of force (not sure if it’s with or without afterburner and I’m too lazy to check again).

F-16 is my favorite plane of all time, with F4U on a close second. I will never be able to grind to it, but goddamn I am glad to see it in the game. F-16 is so sexy, I will never forget the day I saw it when I was in the military here in Norway.

A far as I recall, the F-16C Block 40 is rated operationally to a limit of 7.5 Gs. Now in combat that restriction is reduced to 9.5Gs in small increments (no longer than 5-10 seconds at a time). Even then, the pilot has to report if they exceed 7.5 Gs to maintenance because then they have to gut the plane and inspect the frame for cracks. Seriously, pulling 7 Gs is no joke, pulling 9 is unheard of but by idiots or legends to save their own skin. If the games 11G load limit was used IRL, the wings would snap off. No "probably or maybe" It would rip the wings off the fuselage.

The F-16 should actually have around 3200 lbs of thrust more. And should be able to go around mach 1.3 (!) in a straight line on the deck. I hope they will fix it in the final update

Mig29 9-13 has a slightly larger spine for increased fuel storage over the base version 9-12. I'll ve honest i think the r73s are fine as is. Relatively easy ro flare. The issue are the r27Ts. Those NEED a flare resistance nerf. The mig29s are missing a good chunk of thrust. Overall i don't it's overpowerd. BUT it's gonna slam everything that packs 10 flares or less

I have a friend that works on these, he loves them, but he describes them as being designed to be very lethal without thinking much about the pilots safety, because like others have said in the past, the limits of the f-16 mostly come down to the pilot

My local ANG wing flies F-16s (148th Go Bulldogs!). Unbelievably cool to have it in the game. I remember having conversations when this game first came out about the possible future we are now seeing. The idea of one day seeing anything like a Tornado, Fulcrum, or Falcon in the game was seen as laughable. My how things have changed.

the mig 29 in this video have r 73 and r27t/et, the r27t is a long range heat seeker, which can fire (irl) from 20 or so kilometres away, and the r73 is a high off bore sight missile with a 15 km max range. I think its kind of nuts how the put, what is basically the Russian aim 9x, on the mig 29, when early variants had r60's edit: prototype, not early

hey phly based off of the engine this is a block15OCU so when there is a cockpit it will be the wide angle HUD and has provisions for Aim-120s

The F-16 looks cool and all, but I'm really worried about what the Mig-29/IRST/R-27/R-73 combo will do to top tier. I know the F-14 is still there, but a later F-16 variant with AIM-7s would've made more sense imo. And if that wasn't enough, stuff like the Mig-23MLD and Mig-27 could get R-73s as well.

I got on the dev server for the first time yesterday. I'm almost to the jets already. That 5x boost is really nice. Plus SL and RP costs are much lower. At this rate, I'll be at the F-16 before long lol

Day 443: Phly, I challenge you to get 8 kills in one game with the SU-5-1. This MBT/Tank Destroyer is severely underloved in your channel.

From my own research I can tell a thing or two about the rivalry between the F16 and the Mig 29. When Germany re-united the luftwaffe got 20 something East German mig 29’s. Of course short time after that they made some exercices with Mig29’s facing the F16s. From what you can read on the internet the Mig29 won 49 dogfights out of 50 against the F16 but in BVR the Mig 29 stood no chance. BUT, never forget that the biggest factor is the pilot. Also you can find a wonderful video of those German Mig29 fighting with Swiss F 18s. Peace out !

F-16 crew chief here. 9gs the limit, I’ve hit 7.8gs on a fam flight I flew in the back seat of a block 50 f-16 and not being a pilot I almost passed out lol but I was keeping my g breathing going. We were doing dog fighting over the pacific near Guam, it was pretty dope.

Regarding pilot G-forces, all you have to do to find a working example is look at Red Bull Air Racing, where they had to implement penalties for exceeding 10G for longer than 0.6 seconds, up to a DNF for exceeding 12G.

I role play in test flight to its fun but in multiplayer when you have a friend playing with you in your own custom battle that's when you make the tight formations.

There is definitely some balance issues with the Mig 29s missiles but other than that this will be a fun update!

teh hook is not for carrier landings, but incase of a emergency for example if the brakes stop working, they can deploy barriers on the runway and the tailhook will catch em'

I am part of the program at Lockheed building the new Block 70 Generation of the F16 its a really beautiful bird.

the Mig-29 is kinda Nuts, the R-23T has also ECCM giving it the ability to be quite annoying to shake off

The only thing I want Lockheed to do. Is make the internals have more modern tech but still have the classic f-16 tech. Make the plan be able to handle more overspending and have a gimbled engine to be able to do more crazy stunts with it. I want to be able to have the thruster able to move and point either direction and turn the craft harder. Frame needs even more strength to be able to handle that kind of abuse during extreme hard pulls. Imagine if the f-16 had thrust vector capabilities 😅

I've probably spent about as much time playing the game itself vs test flights. I just love playing with different vehicles and stuff. Like as a child swooshing and vroooming around in my models and legos

my dad flew these in Iraq in Afghanistan. The thing is so elegant and powerful. It's like you're wearing the jet because the cockpit is so cramped.

“Not a super duper missile” but it’s irrefutably top 3 ir missiles in the game I would say #1 but it kinda just comes down to preference and I understand he doesn’t play air too much so it makes sense he doesn’t know this just letting everyone else know in case they didn’t. Also Phly if you weren’t getting an rwr warning from the mig29’s long range missiles that’s because they’re the ir variant of the r27, arguably why they’re better than the r27r (sarh version) because your opponent won’t get a warning of the lock/launch.
