Look at it this way, the F22 and the other 4 gen aircraft are the chess pieces, the F22 being the best knife fighter, and the F-35 is the Chest Master keeping them all coordinated even though the F35 has 4th gen fighter agility. I like dual engine because of redundancy, notice the aircraft with the best endurance are dual engine frames. The main benefit of one engine is reduction in maintenance costs and time.

(Feel free to add/change anything) 6: A-10 (super quiet) 5: F-16 (loud but only super loud if taking off with full afterburner) 4: F-15 (very loud because of the twin engines, especially on full afterburner, buildings/houses and the ground nearby the runway are easily shook) 3: F-18 (its called the super hornet for a reason) 2: F-22 (VERY loud, use of earphones outside is virtually unavoidable and will make you uncomfortable while u watch it go) 1: F-35 (earthquaking, absolutely deafening, and will make you tbh run for cover because of how unbearably loud it gets)

This is nuts we are being pissed on and OUR money is being taken at 37% or more and is never used to bennifet us? Our tax money was to be used for americans not everybody in the world. This is wrong and the results of this betrayal are evident in america. We look like a 3rd world country. The richest county in the world but Americans couldn't tell they live in poverty. I wonder why? Government steals 37% or more of your money and gives it to terriorists or Ukraine which is in fact the most corrupt country in the world! No sir. The F-35 is a strike fighter. The F-22 is an air superiority fighter. You can't really compare them because they don't occupy the same roles. Yes, the F-22 can drop bombs, but only JDAMs because it lacks a targeting system to fire LGBs and other ordinance. The F-35's sensors are arguably much more modern and complete than the F-22's... Especially when it comes to detecting ground threats... Because it's primary role, like the older F-16C; is to strike ground threats. Hence the program's name... Joint Strike Fighter. Please don't make such useless comparaisons again.

@@n3v3rforgott3n9 that is not always the case. The F-16 is noticeably quieter than even the regular hornet. It depends a lot on engine size, position, and a few other factors. The 16 is pretty small and so is its engine. The 35's engine is actually quite massive in comparison, and produces something like twice the thrust, which can also be a factor in noise generation. Apparently none of you seen the movie “Iron Eagle” 🦅 🇺🇸 before. Nothing beats the F-16 especially when the pilot is using a Sony Walkman.

I would rather hear that zooming over my head as it travels somewhere to protect myself and others, then I would to hear the enemies missiles raining down on me. I don’t care how loud it is! That is a sound of power.

Was at Eagle Mountain Lake in Texas a few weeks ago. We must've been in the flight path for NAS Ft Worth because every fifteen minutes or so jets would be doing wide circles right above us. One pass an A10 and an F35 came over. Never realized how big the 35 is. The next pass was just the 35. We happened to be right in line with it and it lit it's burners to where we could see directly into the engine nozzle. Even though it was a good 3 to 4 thousand feet above us it still made our ears ring.

Fun fact: military aviators often refer to the F-35 as the “fat kid in a magic suit,” due to it’s poor maneuverability, top speed, and range and yet highly advanced computer technology relative to other gen 5 aircraft like the F-22. -edited for y'all in the replies ;)
@TamLanNguyen-fd8ud2 ай бұрын
I don't know where you base your claim that the F35 is less maneuverable or that what you say is just a lie. Did you know that the F16 pilots had to remove the bombs and auxiliary fuel tanks and only kept the air-to-air missiles? Is it possible to defeat an F35 carrying a full load of weapons in a military exercise?

"people in the military" is sooo wide a statement. What do the actual pilots think?

@@TamLanNguyen-fd8ud Poor maneuverability relative to the F-22 which has thrust vectoring, super cruise, longer range, higher top speed, etc... Also according to my dad (who is a military aviator who flew F/A - 18 Supers, T-6's, KC-135's...among others) an F-16 would smoke an F-35 in a traditional dogfight. ALSO, NO pilot in their right mind would dogfight WITH their external tanks still on...that'd be just plain stupid
@CdrsanАй бұрын
That's cause the F35 isn't meant to be a dogfighter. It's meant to snipe targets on datalink from 1000+ miles away without the enemy even knowing its there.
