This was a real treat! I used to live in San Diego and remember watching a lot of fighter jets land at North Island from Coronado Beach (my dog’s favorite beach btw). This is the first time I’ve seen a cockpit view, and a touch and go to boot!

Boy that brought back memories. Stationed at NAS North Island in the late ‘60’s when the test line for F4 and F8 was off to the left of the runway. No hangers all out in the open. Worked out of building 865 ( no longer there) filling the F4’s and F8’s with liquid oxygen. Also, was an aircrew man with backseat time in the Phantom II. The break over the field and coming around to land was done many times during my time there. Thanks for the footage.

Consider the joy most of us having watching this; then think about the feeling of the guy riding it! :) Having a private F-18 and a beach house like those on close to where it's parked at would be my high-end materialistic dream.

If I were born here, I would’ve done my best to be in the service and be like you guys. Flying my powered paraglider and working as an infrared specialist flight crew fighting wildfires for the gov will suffice for my age and experience at this time. My dream right there. I have dreamed my whole life of being able to fly fighter jets. F-18 super hornets, F-16 , and my all time favorite the beautiful F-15 Eagle. I'd take any opportunity any challenge to handle anything a jet couple put me through. My dream is to fly at 80k feet, curvature of the earth below me soace above me and listen to pink Floyd - learning to fly. I could die happy then. I'd give anything to fly. But unfortunate as never had the opportunity to have the education needed as moved around to much growing up barely got out of high-school with diploma. Not smart enough for college lol. Kudos to all doing this. My next life will be different. Maybe coke back in mear future so can space travel as pilot

@@ColbyLee2004 It used to be a USAF thing with the F-4C/D/E and F-111A/D/F while US Navy F-4B/J/Ns and F-14s had RIOs. Once they went to the Super Hornet with the F model, they adopted the basic crew designations of the F-15E Strike Eagle with Pilot and WSO. The WSO station in the F models varies, but the more modern ones have dual joysticks for sensors and weapons manipulation like a Strike Eagle does. The F/A-18Bs and early F/A-18Fs are/were primarily used as conversion trainers to the best of my knowledge.
