After a while, I have decided to learn the entire 3rd Sonata, I haven't learned anything from Chopin that is this large in scale and I decided to start with the 3rd movement, which I believe is the emotional core of the Sonata. Great lecture!

Good interpretation of this movement, and thanks ! I think the opening movement is at least musically and emotionally as profound and beautiful as the slow movement, if not even more. The opening movement was the reason I decided to learn this Sonata exactly one year ago. I had decided to tackle the technical difficulty first, thus learning the opening movement, the finale and the second movement first, and then carry on to the technically easiest slow movement.

Thank-you. You have elucidated the sentimental art of Chopin so well. There have been so many interpretations of this piece but none contained the natural lyrical flow as displayed in your playing. Your sense of aesthetics awakened my subconscious ideas of Chopin.

Thank you for inspiring me once again, Greg! I am going to learn this movement, and I think it will be very therapeutic, as you explained so well! (I have the score, but I never tried to play it...until you made it impossible to ignore anymore).

14:28 For me, the part b of this movement always remind me of the peer gynt suite no 1 "morning mood" by Edward Grieg.

The middle section of the movement makes me think of the first Bach prelude from the Well-Tempered Clavier with its harmonic movement and beautiful voice-leading. Perhaps Chopin was also influenced by Bach when he composed this section.

I Interpret this piece like a man that standing one step away from the top of pedestal and before he takes his one last step, he reminiscence about all the journey, hardship and everything he took just to be on the top and as he took his last step, he realized that It Is the end and also the beginning of a new Journey, and so he took the last step and finally prepared himself for the new journey. That's just for me. 😅

"Do you love me?" - "Yes, I do!" - that's the essence of this incredible movement! Op 58 is the greatest piece Chopin ever composed and it's a lifelong encounter for me. I'm practicing this again after a break of 10 years together with Op. 35. Op. 35 appears totally different while rich of changing harmonies with all its chords and less intended into a lyrical way. Interesting th

Indeed, Mo Niemczuk, this Largo is the most refined expression of pure love. Resemblance with the lyric third part from Sonata No 2 op 35, cannot be avoided. Love and death, have always been and will remain eternal questions without reply from the humans. Romanticism is the ideal framework for similar experimentations, resulting in creation of masterpieces. In this third movement, love not only reaches, but also surpasses its peak! I am sure that who he has never been in mutual love, is the suitable one to understand, feel and express the real meaning of this invaluable gift of Nature. Chopin, in spite of his chaste soul, never found the love he deserved.
