Kento momota was world champion and world number one. He won a record 11 world titles in 2019. In January 2020, on the way to the KL airport, the driver of the van crashed into the back of a lorry instantly killing the driver. Kento was seriously injured. He has never been the same again.

As Morten said Kento Momota isn't just winning, he's also increasing the distance between him and the rest. He's not just content with winning and never hets complacent. With this win he'll probably come away thinking "I played well but Chen Long was not playing well that day."

I am waiting for shi yuqi to get well , Shi Yuqi is an extremely talented player , you never know he has the potential to derail the momota ship and Li Zia , Rasmeus gemka and Andres Antenson are also getting stronger and stronger and Olympics is still 9 months away, so it's too soon but right now nobody could beat Momota.

I simply don't see any weakness in momota's game right now, technically and mentally he's so strong....when he really want to win, no one can beat him. I just don't see anybody beating him at olympic next year, he didn't show any sign that he's nervous or anything when it comes to these major events.

These two players almost always never give any situations for umpires to handle - they reduce the umpire's role to just recording and annoucing scores, with an occassional request for shuttle change, that the other complies. Not much to do.

Chen Long getting better and better form wise, great player and also really nice guy. Like the other comments say Momota is so hard to get near now for nearly everyone, only Ginting seems to trouble him at the moment. But a game based on impeccable defense and court speed isn't quite as entertaining as the Lee Chong Wei and Lin Dan style that had lots more explosive attack.

Of course LD and LCW explosive style far more entertaining but in this final Momota simply preventing Chen Long from making an attack. How many time Chen Long make an attack after the interval in the 1st game. Even if he make an attack Momota keep returning the shuttle and sooner or later the mental burden start to bite and influence Chen Long playing condition.

Năm sau đoạt thêm Olympic nữa là thành huyền thoại sống rồi. Cậu người Nhật này rất khiêm nhường dù đang ngự trị trên đỉnh thế giới. Thần thái thân thiện, dễ mến. Khác hẳn với vẻ tự cao, cao ngạo của Lindan hồi xưa. Mấy tay TQ chả ưa nổi.

Nhưng Lin Dan cao ngạo là xứng đáng mà :)). Nói trắng ra là Lin Dan bá luôn ở cả 2 thời kì cầu lông khác nhau thì nó có quyền cao ngạo thôi =)). Người Nhật cũng khó lường lắm bác ơi. Nhiều khi nó cũng tự cao mà không thẻ hiện ra mặt thôi.

Thật sự thì không còn từ nào để diễn tả về phong độ của Momota tại thời điểm này. So với lần gặp CL tại China 1000 thì Mo lại 1 lần nữa "lột xác" đến khó tin. Mình nghĩ Mo sẽ thắng nhưng cũng sẽ vất vả trong 3 set vì trận bk thấy Long lội ngược dòng trước Sen mà lo. Nhưng thực tế cho thấy Long đã bị bào mòn thể lực trong trận đó nên chỉ có thể trụ được set 1. Nếu mọi người để ý thì trận này Mo chọn chiến thuật cực kì khôn khéo là đánh cầu bền và cài lưới cho dù ban đầu hơi khó (cầu Victor đi khác Yonex) nên CL thường thắng. Nhưng qua nữa hiệp 1 thì mới thấy những quả gài lưới của Mo thật kinh khủng. Cộng với lối phông cầu chuẩn từng li đến khó tin làm cho Long không có cơ hội để dứt điểm mà phải đánh cầu bền với Mo. Mà đánh cầu bền mà thể lực không đảm bảo thì tự sát. Bằng chứng là Long đập cầu ra ngoài liên tục trong tư thế khó. Một điều nữa là trận này mo rất ít khi đập vì biết Long thủ đỉa thuộc hàng top. Để ý thì Mo đập 1 lần sau đó Long trả cầu chéo sân ăn điểm thì Mo đổi chiến thuật rất nhanh, phong cầu, cài lưới liên tục. Dường như khả năng đọc vị đối thủ của Mo rất tốt. Long đánh hỏng cầu tới nỗi gương mặt hoang mang không hiểu chuyện gì đang xảy ra. Xem Mo thi đấu nhiều trận đỉnh cao nhưng lần đầu tiên mình thấy Mo thật sự trên cơ Long rất nhiều. Điều ngạc nhiên nữa là dù đánh cầu ở tư thế nào thì khả năng điều cầu chính xác của Mo gần như hoàn hảo. Đường cầu giống như được lập trình, không đi sai 1 li. Cảm giác giống như Robot đánh chứ không phải người. Rất khó giải thích nhưng rất thú vị.

2 games straight??? i don't know about you, but it doesn't seem like CL Is playing to his full potential. To beat a player like momota, where all his returns are perfect, you really can't afford any unforced errors. Also i think the only way to win momota is element of surprise. Less predictable.

@@langszCL is not LCW or LD,but CL is better than LCW . When LCW was at his best in 2010-2012,their H2H is 6(LCW):4(CL).But CL is not at his best at that time, he is still growing stronger. In 2013-2014,their H2H is 4(CL):2(LCW). And in finals,their H2H is 6(CL):2(LCW) before 2015. In T cup, S cup, and the team competition in Asian Games, LCW and CL has the same win rates. Above all,LCW never gets a world Champion. U can say LCW keep a better condition after 30 years old,but there is no doubt that CL is a greater athlete than LCW and he is more powerful at their peakness.

@@karenli4009now lcw leads chen long 15-13 . Of course chen long has the advantage in winning major titles but how many players are well known without winning it? LCW is! I think in terms of skill lcw is slightly superior while chen long’s mental strength is far better

Chinh Hoang đúng là quá chắc kèo, Momota đánh quá đỉa. Tính ra Chen Long tự hỏng quá nhiều chứ Momota rất ít điểm winner, Chen Long mà đánh chuẩn như Olympic 2016 thì Momota có khi bị đập cho tan tác.

@@phuongphamduy1941 bác xem lại trận chen long với viktor và trận này đi, chen long trước giờ ko phải là 1 tay vợt tấn công, vào thời đỉnh cao a chơi gần giống momota nên rõ ràng chen long ko muốn tung quá nhiều sức để đập vì 2 bên điều có lối chơi điều cầu khó chịu. Mỗi lần chen long xử lý momota đều rất nhanh nên a buộc phải ra những tình huống cầu cực khó và mạo hiểm nhưng nếu ko có 1 cảm giác siêu siêu tốt thì cầu ngoài là tất yếu thôi. Đánh với momota phải là 1 lối đánh cực nhanh như ginting có cơ hội là đập vỡ mặt ngay thì cơ hội thắng sẽ cao hơn là cù cưa. Nói về tốc độ thì chỉ có ginting thôi chứ shi yuqi thì cũng còn chậm, lâu lâu lên phong độ đoán đc hướng cầu momota mới gây khó đc cho momota thôi.

Quang Phạm công nhận bác nói không sai, nhưng những trận Chen Long đánh thủ là vì gặp đối thủ thiên về tấn công và chiến thuật của Chen Long phụ thuộc vào HLV nữa, còn nếu bác xem cầu lông lâu năm thì hãy nhìn Chen Long phiên bản Olympic 2012 và 2016, hay nói khái quát hơn là Chen Long giai đoạn 2011 - 2017 đánh thủ vừa đỉa mà công vừa hiểm, bỏ nhỏ rất sát và chụp lưới rất nhanh, đập vặn sườn rất tởm. Tôi k phải fan Chen nhưng trước giờ cũng chỉ xem Chen, Lee và Lin đánh. Khi đã xem cái đẹp quá nhiều, thì gặp 1 tay vợt đánh quá bài như Momota khiến tôi k có hứng thú.

Đánh toàn để đối thủ dưới 10. Đối thủ nào căng thì dưới 15 mỗi sec kể cả thư 3-5 thế giới. Điều mà Lin và Lee thời vàng son chưa từng làm được.

Ai noi LCW va LD chua lam dc. Xem LD o China Open 2009 hay LCW o All England 2011 chua? Momota giai nay cung bi thua 1 set voi Gemke. Chang qua la hien gio ko co nhieu tay vot gioi nhung 10 nam truoc.

Nhung tay vot hay nhu Shi Yuqi thi chan thuong. Axelsen thi mo tro lai va ko co phong do tot. Ginting hay Johnathan thi chua mature va phong do ko on dinh. Cho Momota danh vao khoang 2006-2012 thi chua chac da vao dc top 5.

Congrats to Momota! But let's not forget that he had a ridiculously easy draw compared to Chen Long.. all top players in the second half of the draw : Antonsen, Axelsen, Chou TC and Chen Long. Mainly because Shi Yuqi was initially included in the participants list as 3rd seed. Let's hope Momota faces more challenge in future tournaments, just to make this a bit more even for the competitor that has to play him in the final.

What do you mean easy draw. Dont forget he in the same draw as Jonathan Christie, Shi Yu Qi and Anthiny Ginting. These is the player that has defeated him in the last 12 month and also the one that posses the biggest threat to him. The reason why he got an easy path because this player got defeated before the QF stage. Look back at the draw, if everything work Momota should meet Christie at the QF and Ginting at the SF. This situation also happen to him in the World Championship. He also in the same drae as Christie, SHi and Gintimh but Shi widthdrew while Christie and Ginting loss to Sai Praneeth.

@@SuperSasaboy That's also my point, Shi Yuqi is not over his serious injury yet, and Christie and Ginting (despite having proven that they can beat Momota) are not so consistent especially Christie at the moment. That makes an easy road for Momota, and I fear it is going to be the same now for the French Open, as we can see the same draw.

Lee thì khác gì Lindan đâu các bạn, gặp Mo nó hành cho be bét. Cầu lông giờ thực dụng hơn rất nhiều. Xem các trận chung kết của Lee mặt mũi lo âu tái nhợt, bị dẫn 14 -19 chả hạn là coi như thua. Với Momota thì dẫn vài điểm cuối nó vẫn kéo lại và thắng. Tâm lý của Mo nó khác bọt lắm

@@84tknn nói chung là cả hai bạn momota là tài năng thiên bẩm sau thời lee và lin. nhưng cũng thừa nhận là những tay vợt đánh với mo họ không có phong độ tốt thời gian gần đây nên đơn giản mo đã vô địch 5 giải liên tiếp....

Momota’s playing style is boring because his playing style is passive badminton, however his passive play is very effective to make opponent frustated and make some errors. This boring playing style also gives benefit for momota to read the best moment to attack

This guy is probably someone who thinks the only way to winning a match is through Smash. You dont even understand how Momota manages to beat everybody.

If you follow CL, LCW and Lindan for a long time who have really dedicated style, you will find out that MMT game is kinda boring, too safe. Therefore I can understand why he said that

Momota's style is a kind of control style with perfect shots. You will see it excited and beautiful if you focus on how beautiful he moves on court with minimum stamina, how fast he flick the shuttle at the net, how smart he control the shuttle around 4 corners and chase his opponents around the court. I also feel excited with how mental & calm he due with cloudy situations, manage to comeback and win his difficult matches. He's kind of a very rare talent player in many years.

Smash more, Momota! At least when a good chance for smash arises. On a few occasions, you could have chosen to smash but you didn't and gave a golden chance to your opponent to smash you. Had your opponent not committed an unlucky technical error by hitting the shuttle out of bounds, you could have lost badly. Are you sure you want to continue to take such a risk by refusing to smash even when there are good chances and handing over the initiative to your opponents to finish you off with a powerful smash? Do you naively believe they would always mistakenly smash the shuttle out of bounds to give you a lucky victory? No, next time they won't! Wake up!

He won by so much obviously his strategy was working. Chen long’s lifts were for the most part good(except for the ones that went out) so momota didn’t really have that many chances to smash. Plus smashing takes a lot of energy to recover. It’s also not a good idea to throw yourself at every smash opportunity against a defensive player like Chen long. Hell just block most of them and wait for your to tire out. Singles isn’t just about smashing to win

Thats why hes world number 1 at men single now, and you are nothing but a piece of shit who clearly know jackshit about badminton, amateur at best, so you know Chen Long is known for his smash defence and this match showing that Momota was always ahead of Chenlong? His strat works, and this is men single not double, dont lecture a proffesional player who has won 5 league consicutively when you arent shit.
