If I may, I believe that the Wild Goose had better durability in the original game

I believe most people know of this by now, but Blast Tapping or Blast Turning is essential to maintain high speeds with the Stingray around corners. Instead of letting go completely of the accelerator around corners, briefly let go for a split second to go below your max speed of 478, then hold the gas for the rest of the turn. It has such high grip that it holds a sharp turn even while accelerating. As long as you keep your speed below 478, your turning rate is kept at a good level. Its only at 478 that turning becomes hard. So, slightly letting go of the accelerator, then holding it, then letting go again a second later, then holding, and so on, is the best way to turn around most corners. It takes a little while to get used to and learn, but its not that difficult and very consistent.

It was my main in SNES F-Zero (along with everyone else who wasn't doing a self-imposed challenge) and still is in 99. Solid machine if you can keep the momentum and take top-tier lines, but get whacked a few times and it's headed for cringe town unless there are boost arrows or jump plates to get back to top speed quickly. On Red Canyon 1, this machine _slays_ .

You’ll definitely want to consider boost, skyway, or fishing hard for someone to bump you from behind if you get stuck at the mercy of the poor acceleration. But mistakes will always be pushing you closer to crash out so consider what a KO and just plain clean driving could do for you too

It was my main in old time of snes. In 99 i struggle to make sub 30 with it. It feel like it has been nerfed. Or i'm getting too old. Maybe a little bit of both.

Easily the worst vehicle in the game lol. Top speed doesn’t matter if the second you lightly touch another racer, you get body blocked and lose all moment or bounced into a barrier. Fire stingray is the easiest car to bully. If it was just a hair heavier, it would be a much better vehicle.

@@SpudSpudoni It does not lose that much speed when bouncing other players, just when you touch the wall or touch the bumpers. The challenge with stingray is to get to the front lines. Once you're in the front, there is nothing stopping you unless you don't know how to blast turn properly or you touch bumpers and the wall too much.

@@Xzedopau But it *does* lose speed, which is the most critical for the Fire Stingray over any other current machine. It basically has to rely on top speed to place well, where boosting is a more dangerous proposition with such a slow refill rate and low durability. If you can get to the front of the pack early on, or luck out with the skyway, then you have to be a pretty great driver to maintain that, which is certainly doable. But you basically have to hope the conditions are perfect to have that, which is way more RNG than any other machine has.

@@SpudSpudoni I dunno here. I seem to see as many fire stingrays as golden foxes at the front of the pack if not more. The stingrays tend to stay there too without as much effort as the foxes get overtaken when they start running out of boost to use. Seems like people have become skilled at using this machine. It certainly pays off.
