Very true. It's hard to overlook the fact that he lead the most laps both in the 1981 and 1982 seasons. Had he just finished one of the races he was retiring from while leading he'd bag the 1981 title. As for 1982. The Turbo Renault was the fastest car and we'd see Prost champion and Arnoux 2nd if the car was just a little more reliable. 1983? The legality of the fuel Brabham used was questionable but Prost was leading the standings going into the last race... Prost is criminally overlooked.

Prost is always overlooked. In my mind, if I had a team, I would want Prost as my #1 driver - intelligent, hard-working, easy on the cars and tires and very fast.

In 1975 I went to Lotus to nose around prior to the Grand Prix and Peter Warr let me wander around on my own as he was sidelined with legs broken in a road accident. As I was leaving I went to thank him, and I admired the photos behind his desk of all the drivers who had driven Lotus F1 cars. I said I hope Graham Hill would retire soon, and he asked me if I was going to Silverstone; when I said yes, he told me to watch for an announcement. I asked if it was going to be Hill’s retirement, and he just said ‘watch for an announcement’. So I kept my eyes open at the circuit and when I saw there was to be an announcement by Embassy the following day, I attended. And I was among the small crowd to attend Graham Hill’s retirement . . .

About the speed of the video, remember that in this era the camera was a big mechanical film camera, not a gopro! It could not have been on during a real race or even practice, it was probably heavy enough to significantly slow down the car!

Not talking about anyone in particular, just if someone had managed to race that long - Take Michael Schumacher for instance; he's been racing in F1 since 1991 and was still racing well into 2006 (Came back in 2010) so he's almost been at it for 20 years and the cars must have changed so much since then.

Is it running a pushrod suspension? Whats the top rod that connects the tire to the car. Is it a control rod? The whole setup looks strange, I never noticed it before. I cant tell whats going on.

It's baffling to think that an F1 driver who may have started racing in 1970 could go on all the way to 1990 maybe even further, the cars would be almost completely different (feel free to correct me if i'm wrong)

Due to the quality of the film it's rather hard to tell. At best - from 1:45 to 1:48 - the car appears to be a March 701, judging by the configuration of the oil tank mounted (vertically) on the RR of the car. If that is the case it could be any number of drivers since that model of car was dispensed to several teams for the 1970 campaign - some of the drivers that were piloting those cars then included Stewart, Amon, Siffert, rookie Ronnie Peterson just to name a few.

Yes but Hill, like Fangio, Moss, Clark, Stewart, Brabham et al NEVER cheated, blocked the road, drove others off or took short cuts. Neither did they have launch control or traction control when they shouldn't have. Senna and Schumacher would not have survived in pre dogem times. They are in a lower class.
