Yep this is the thing, you can see it on this video is how every corner comes up in a diagonal line of sight. You would of already judged the turn-in line through looking at one of those giant gaps either side of the center connect for the halo.

Generally speaking most people have 2 eyes. So seeing around a narrow column isn’t that hard

Should try playing it in the games. I could handle just about any track, but I gave up on Monaco. Always knew it was a difficult track, but the video game made me truly appreciate how there's folks out there who go 70 laps in that sonavabitch without breaking a single wing, when I couldn't do 20 with assists on in the comfort of my own home.

i think the reason they code it like that is because it allows them to make sure that every pit entry animation takes place WITHIN the lines of THAT teams pit stop line. notice how gasly essentially drives directly OVER the neighboring teams pit stop, such that if there was a car there in the pits gasly would have driver right on top of them. obviously a real driver can adjust during a GP if another car is front of their pit stop, but the way the cars are coded, i dont think they could program that into the car.

Your nose is also constantly blocking a part of your view, your brain just ignores it. If it can filter out a relatively large bunk of flesh, it can filter out that tiny bar. Your eyes also look 'behind' the bar, just like with raindrops on the visor. I never understood why people thought the HALO would obstruct the view of the driver that much.

Tafelpoot People hated(still do) to see the halo , so any idea/thing against it was accepted, even though it wasn't a valid point sometimes

In real life the visibility is much better because you see two images from slightly different angles and your brain combines them into one. Even though you said the visibility is better than you expected, if it really was as poor as in the video, HALO would've never been implemented. The easiest (and probably the cheapest) way to get an idea how it looks is to buy VR goggles.

Even during jerky conditions,it's much better stabilised than what is captured in a video camera because here the image is formed by the lens whereas the image formed in our eyes is actually an interpretation of the brain towards light stimulus,so it automatically creates a stable image to a large extent

This camera has no stabilization whatsoever and it has autofocus enabled which goes focus hunting when image is blurred enough due shake. With a better camera and focus lock this would be even better. However, even this video was really interesting to see.

The fact that it's built into a pair of glasses that the driver's had to wear, plus the new one is MUCH safer incase of a crash. Imagine crashing and having a glasses frame shoved into your face. There's a reason he only did an outlap at an incredibly slow pace
