You're using your whole strength on a quarter million dollar Nintendo DS that's strapped to a 15 million dollar car that's always going over 60. The DRIVERS are no joke, they're pulling fighter jet Gs without any assistance (besides the harness and padding) Big Edit so people stop talking to me. It's pretty obvious that drivers experience no vertical G-forces, I knew that going into writing this comment originally. It's also important to the "no assistance" thing, g-suits make no sense for horizontal forces. None of that detracts from one of the most physically strenuous motorsports on Earth

Saw an interview with Hamilton and he talked about not being able to bulk up his upper part of the body because of center of gravity issues when turning. I never really thought about it but they push so many G's in the turns I can see why it would be an issue.
@ryanrodriguez529311 ай бұрын
Yeah they take that stuff very seriously. Every kilo/pound matters for the balance of the car. It wouldn’t require a redesign or anything, but i imagine if he gained a pounds and it went to his chest, he might feel (more) uncomfortable driving the car. Not sure how much it affect performance, but I do know that every lap of fuel burnt means fractions of a second being faster so just a few pounds which are permanent, not including water weight lost, would have some level of performance difference.
@roydraper6169 ай бұрын

@@XCILE625 As someone who competes in both running and motor racing, sorry, that's not true. If you add in the pressure to push the brake pedal, the g-force, and the heat, lapping in a decently quick racing car is roughly equivalent to running a fast race per unit time. In something as extreme as F1, they are top level athletes. Just as one example, in F1 cars the sideways g-force is up to 6 times the force of gravity. A head in a helmet weighs about 5-6kg, so that's half the driver's bodyweight supported by his neck muscles.
