That truck must be in seventh heaven--it was rotting away, forgotten in a field, and now it's back on the road and getting lots of tlc. Kudos to you for your skill and attention to detail. I'm really enjoying following this series.

Looking great. I did a mod on my 70 F100 years ago to make it shift better. “Better” being not so much lever travel. The holes on the two levers at column end had elongated and the bushings were sloppy. I made two T s about 2 inches long, same width as the column lever and the bar of the T 1/2 inch tall and 1/2 wider than the vertical part of the T. I used 1/8 steel. I bent the bar ends 90 degrees and drilled the hole in T so It aligned with center of the shift rod hole. Short carriage bolt and flat washer to hold lever with those bent bar ends on the T to keep lever from slipping. I drilled hole on end the diameter for new rod bushings. The stroke of shift lever was little more than half of original and the effort was higher but not bad. Sort of a Hurst shifter for 3 on the tree.

That inner floor support section you referred to is actually the underside of your cab mount. If you're adjusting your door striker and can't seem to get it to go in further, try bringing your striker out more. I've seen other people who couldn't get it right and they ended up bringing the striker out and the door sits further in. Trucks looking awesome. I've enjoying watching the entire process!

Prettier than the prom queen. I owned the four wheel drive new with three ninety and four speed.....$2300.oo bucks paid and out the door. I loved that truck particular cause it refused to quit, white top and bottom and turquoise sides and interior. I was a good mechanic but body work had eluded me at that time so every couple three years Marty's paint and body did the whole truck while running gear sast in my shop refreshing everything that needed attention.I hope that you can see the difference in those two engines that you have as those ribs stand out once your eye catches it, those horizontal casting marks. I think you have heard of uncle Tony's garage or something close. I think he would know this and then he is mostly mopar so might be a short straw... Deboss might know

My late brother worked at the local Ford garage (Harrison Ford) for a number of years 60-s to 90-s. Trim levels in PU's could be sparse, non-padded dash etc. The headliner on yours was probably a gray cardboard with black or white mottled coloring. Depending on the color, trim level and customer he would extend the red line on the grill down the side and across the tailgate and or add a red stripe to the hubcap wheels or both. Narragansett Bay.

Great videos. I think you may have struggled with the same thing I did while painting my house. Grey is a weird color, it has the ability to pick up the colors that are surrounding it. The paint is changing the color of the carpet according to your eyeballs. We chose a nice grey, but once on the walls, the sunlight would make it look purple. Had to change the paint color 3 times before we got it right.

Great videos. I'm gonna be doing work like this on my '72 F250 before long. You might want to check to see where water may be coming into the cab. Those floors usually rust because the truck sat outside for a long time and water leaked in when it rained. I found if the windshield isn't leaking, water is coming thru the bottom of the vent below the windshield into the cab. There's a big black bead of sealer under the dash along the top of the firewall and that's where it may be coming in. BTW that old green carpet most likely isn't original and neither is the cloth seat upholstery. That thing was probably upgraded in the 1990's. The Ford trucks of that era came with vinyl seats and black rubber floor mat. The "fat" seatbelts are the originals. Good looking truck. The painted interior looks great! If you don't want to use the vinyl door panels, that metal panel that's there will work. The base models used that metal panel. They were just painted different contrasting color. Maybe try to find a paint in that parchment color and paint the metal in that color. Looks great and it will help me on my project.
@330_garage3
@330_garage3 4 жыл бұрын
This one looks like it came in through the rear window gasket and ran down into the floor. The truck sat outside with that passenger side tires flat, so it was leaning that direction, so it looks like the carpet held water and caused it to rust out the floor board up there.

I don't know how you knock out these projects so quickly. I was far ahead of you on my build and now you're catching up fast! That interior looks fantastic, such a great feeling to get that done! It's too bad by the time these videos are posted you're often well past the point of getting any useful info from our comments. While you were patching up the floor I noticed that piece of metal underneath was part of your cab mount. I hope you checked the mount out before you finished up with that patch. It'd be a shame if the mount is bad to have to cut back into the floor! Have any plans for that gauge cluster bezel? I look forward to your videos every weekend. Keep up the good work!

Donald Holbrook good point. Seam at the bottom might be a better choice. The previous owner on my truck had so much goop in the gaps of all the rubber weatherstripping that the seams on the doors and windshield were perfectly preserved. Not a spec of rust anywhere. When I replaced the rubbers I put liberal amounts of goop in as well

Looks great! Probably should have hit the pedals and column with a little paint too. Or do you have other plans for them? That 3M stuff is the same stuff I use on engine gaskets. Works awesome. Engine fluids do not affect it. Typically the split line of the door seal goes to the bottom at center or a little forward. Assists in leaving a place for any water to escape/drain. Door sill plates will help hold the door gasket and carpet down in the jambs. Originals are almost always wasted. Also that odd seatbelt is probably out of a mid-later 70s Ford pu. The 67-72s never had a center belt like the 75-78s. I did the same thing, put that center belt into my 69. Needed it for the baby car seat back then! Lol Looks great, keep up the good work. Oh- stick with the 68-9 Grille. Much better looking IMO than the 70-72. They have started reproducing them, Dennis Carpenter, but sure ain't cheap!

330_Garage I looked at the abs plastic headliner which looks ok or you can go online and order the perforated vinyl like it had originally which looks a little more finished and original, i considered making it myself out of fabric or you can have one made in a leather or vinyl that matches the seat. There’s a company I came across on Etsy I decided to go with that will make whatever you want for 170 bucks. B62upholstery, They’re making one for me as we speak - pleated, Old Whiskey vinyl to match my seat cover. I can’t vouch for the quality yet but the reviews were really good and the owner was easy to work with. Or you can do something custom like the American flag thecraig909 did. Choices choices...

@@yeboscrebo4451 yeah I like Craig's flag, I might copy that on my 1967. So far I've just got my truck in pieces. I told the wife that it's either give me money to build my truck or I'm buying a new Mustang GT 350. I'm learning as I go and Craig909 and 330 have been very helpful for me.

I was cringing when he used the cutter on the rusty floorpan; sparks were flying but I didn't see him wearing goggles. After watching the series you start caring about the guy! Hate to think of him getting a flying piece of flaked rust in the eye.

Time for a new smaller steering wheel. Then a nice little stereo system, and a headliner!!

agreed! that huge wheel is a beating, and with power steering, there's really no need for a wheel that large

I’d definitely leave the dash pad off if it were me, also repaint the Gun rack. You’re definitely Gifted with your Hands.
