I visited Kerlingarfjoll for the 4 time on 13 Aug. The weather looks the same in yourr video. My wife and I have visited Iceland for 8 times now. Thank you for the video. Did you see all the work that they are doing on camping area. We use to stop there for lunch and a bathroom break. It looks like the area will be great when the work is done. Linda and Ben

Hello, at 8:50 in the video there is a road to the right which I believe to be a "shortcut" to the F349 (Kerlingarfjöll old). As I can see in the video, there is a gate on that road. Could these gates be opened, or the gate generally means you can't enter the road? Peter

Hi Peter, well that's a good question, you got me on this one. Icelandic Ranger would probably be more qualified to answer it. I don't see any "road closed" sign there. But it's also not just a gate to keep sheep astray. In any case - at the time of our drive F349 was still forbidden to drive because of too much snow and mud at that time, so maybe that's why the gate is there? But that's just my guess. F349, once open after snow/thawing, should be passable for huge modified jeeps.

we have been visiting Kerlingfjöll F347 2 years ago. At that time to road was in a very bad shape, so that one tire runs flat on that road. Anyhow a very beautiful region in Iceland. Kerlingarfjöll at itself was not that pretty. Very dirty and nobody cares, even not the visitors there. Staff was below 25 and hanging around. We are also infected by the Iceland virus and are going back to that beautiful country nearly every year.
