Hi, thank you for sharing your experiences. Yes, it is very capable Offroad and even on motorways it has a very decent performance. I found the engine to have just too little vibrations for a motorcycle of its kind, which made the motorcycle less exiting than the XT660R for example.

I know, it looks great but unfortunately I must have had the typical "Made in the factory on a Monday morning" motorcycle……..

I always bring my motorcycles to the mechanic as I am worried about causing damage. I do simple things, but leave other issues to the experts. Respect to those who can fix things themselves

@@EnduroAlexis To be clear I change all oils, adjust the valves etc but nothing else. I too don't want to screw it up so I leave it of people more skilled than I.

@@EnduroAlexis Thank but I go real slowly to make sure I don't screw it up. There's a video (DVD) made that takes you step by step on oil changes for engine, transmission and final drive. It also covers valve adjustment, alternator, carb balancing and break service. This is through JVB Productions. Happy Riding

Well, I found the Yamaha XT660 R very useful, V-Stroms are also a good tool but not sure if too heavy for you. But I think one can generally say that Japanese are more attractive for first bike owners as they are cheaper to buy and maintain, if one takes them to a private garage/workshop

+Dave Chambers Yes, and as they are upright forks it is not so bad. They won't leak all the oil at once! Fork gators are still a must.

Try getting hold of the Yamaha XT 660R if you can, or go for a V-Strom with lower mileage. Reviews of both motorcycles are on this channel.

Hi, I did not have mine for long as there were too many issues with mine. But I hear many say that it is the most reliable of all BMWs since the R80.

I can tell you the lifespan is not a worry with due diligence on maintenance. Mine just passed the 200.000 kms and running just fine. Documented a 88.000 kms journey on my channel. The '07 was the last year of the orignal f650 gs

It was in the early days of my video production when I was still experimenting. Hope you find the later videos better

Hi Elliott, the F650 is very economical when it comes to fuel, and will use even less oil but still watch the level. From personal experience I would advise you to watch out for a few things. Check electrics, if the seller says "It takes a few attempts to start" walk away, take it for a test ride combined with turning the bike on and off many times, and I mean many!!!....at least once every 10 minutes on a one hour test ride. Also check the radiator for any damage, who did the servicing and check back and front sprockets and that the correct ones were used. Sorry did not want to panic you, but my F650 experience was troubled as I bought mine from someone who thought he knew what he was doing but I guess he was a brilliant tank mechanic but not so good on motorcycles....

His was the one spark. Two spark started from 2nd half of 2004 till 2007 (last production year)

I am 6 foot four, or 1.94 meters. The seat height was too low for me, if I had kept it then I would have raised the seat at Viking Vinyl Motorcycle seats.

Hi Stephen, to be very honest I had the same experience as you, my BMWs spent more time in the workshop than me riding them. But maybe it was due to them being second, third or fourth hand.........

👍 well said , when i travel all i see are BMW broken down , i met a guy in spain in a campsite his 2year old big heavy bmw broken frame and abs knackered so i gave him a lift to bmw garage on my old trusty 1999 600xl with 90.000 km on clock transalp . 😄😄😄😄😄

Enduro Alexis Hmn, i think all speakers are fine. But mi soundcard mixes KZfaq audio into a ProLogic-like 5.1 mix, maybe that's why the volumen of the music is higher for me. Voice goes to central speaker and music goes to all other four. Anyway, still weird, i havnt had any problems like that before LOL.

ComandanteJ Yes maybe, hope the problems get sorted but will make sure at my end I never make the music too loud.

Tastes vary, but made it less loud in other videos.
