F80 M3 ARM Downpipes + Valvetronic Designs Exhaust | A Review

A few quick points/thoughts about the ARM catted downpipes and Valvetronic Designs equal length sport exhaust combo on my F80 M3. In short: I like it; the exhaust is a keeper (even though I still have a bit of valve rattle to address, but that's another video).
Overall, the car is fairly loud in a good way, near zero rasp (but not totally zero probably), noticeable increase in throttle response/power and a really pleasant tone - especially at idle.

Sounds really good. The tone seems to have changed for the better, too. How did you end up recording the sound?

Thanks bro, appreciate you checking it out. 🙏 Most of it was with a rode shotgun mic. For the idle I had it about a foot away from the tips and, during drives, I had it in the trunk. I also had a tascam recorder with a lavalier mic tucked behind the license plate (trying your method) and then the insta360 either outside the car or in the cockpit. The audio from both of those tracks were lowered and panned with the main track to try and reproduce the live sound a bit better since the shotgun mic alone isn’t totally representative of what it actually sounds like. I feel like I had to restrict it quite a bit to prevent clipping but hopefully it came through enough.

I think this is the perfect setup but instead of the catted downpipe I think the resonated ARM downpipe would fit perfectly. Just one question about the valvetronic exhaust. Do the valves open and stay fully open in sport mode? If I remember the car modulates the stock valves throughout the rpms

Yeah man I’m kinda curious what the resonated dps would have sounded like. As for the valves, it’s the same factory behavior since it uses the stock actuator, but Valvetronic sells a valve controller that opens it 100%

Thanks brother 🍻 It's actually not bad at all. The only time I can smell anything is if I'm stationary with windows down and in close proximity to a wall, like in a drive thru, and even then it's not terrible but you notice it. Otherwise, no smell 👍
