This is superb! I presume you discovered you had a talent for art at an early age? I've tried to draw and paint many times but I never seemed to get past the beginner phase. It's an ability I so admire in others but alas something I could never master. Please keep posting. I really enjoy watching the magic happen.

Hi Robert I started to draw at the age of 13... loved it and still have the same passion. Keep persevering and connect to your heart and the ability will developed natural by itself. The more we let go of control the more the art seems to evolve naturally. All the very best... thank you so much for watching my videos means a lot to me. 💕🙏

Hi Dave. Just wanted to encourage Robert as I only began believing I could draw at the age of 57 and am now beginning to sell my pictures and exhibit. What you say about letting go and believing in your heart what you’re doing is so true. Also the more you practise and the more you watch other artists also helps. Keep going Robert.

Someone please explain what he means by "glazing over".
@DavePortersArt
@DavePortersArt 5 ай бұрын
Hi Pamela, this method works best on a sanded surface like the one I use which is Pastelmat dark grey. the pigment will cling to the Pastelmat surface and stops there, so you can add pigment over the top, (glazing) to change the overall colour. It is done very lightly. 🙏

Do you need to spray it with a fixative?
@DavePortersArt
@DavePortersArt 5 ай бұрын
Hi Ruth... I use Pastelmat as it stops most of the dust as the pigment clings to it. I don't spray with fixative as it dulls the work too much. If I am storing them I wrap them in glassine paper or I frame some work under glass with a mount.🙏

@@DavePortersArt I see what you mean. It is technically more 3 dimensional than a photo. Especially in paintings with some thick layering. They say the original Mona Lisa looked like it had mountains when viewed across the surface of the painting.

@@BukitMan It is surprising what can be done with values and edges... a little softer here and sharper there... I find the chroma is most important how some areas glow more than others. Fascinates me. That's interesting about the Mona Lisa. 👍
