THIS is what made Rome 1 so good! The feelings you got each time before going into battle! For most factions, only in the early game where the fate of your empire is still undecided. However, for the Roman factions you got this feeling from the first until your last second in the campaign. Always uncertain, always having to fight hard, always wanting to get glory for your empire! Nothing will ever surpass the feelings you get whilst fighting for ROME!

Yeah. One of the reasons, why I actually cared about my Generals and was very upset, when my general died in battle or from the age. Because the new guy has a different speech. It even felt differently. That was really noticeable, a new guy commanding the army. Not just another portrait in the stack.

No, because ''memento mori'' as the Romans would say, death is ALWAYS a 'when', NEVER an 'if'

@@fartz3808 no, because while death is eventually inevitable, that doesn't mean it's immediate. 'Memento Mori' just means 'you will die one day', just like asoiaf's 'valar morghulis'. So in his speech he says 'when' instead of 'if' referring to this specific battle implying that they are all going to die IN that battle. They wouldn't assume that they were deffo going to die, just that it was possible, so while 'when' is inevitable, 'whether they die THAT day is very much an 'if'.

You're asking for a translation to a dead language, unfortunately. Old Lybian (Numidian) was probably spoken as late as the 4th century AD, but we know few words of it. The language it was spoken in saw a lot of conflict. It saw the wars between Carthage and Rome, was under Roman rule (an epitome of war), saw pirates and Goths conquer it, and evolved to other languages under the Arab Muslims, a whole religion who lived by the sword in their bloody expansion. I doubt "bravery" wasn't in the average Numidian's dictionary.

@@HandleDisliker Thanks, but the question was meant as a joke (to take the piss out of the statement): I already knew Numidian isn't well-attested. I just found it funny that that was in the speech XD

I understand the amazing style of the classic game, and the nostalgia vibes still hit perfectly, but the Remaster has finally been patched well enough to live up and maybe even surpass the original experience.

Did they finally fix the pathfinding or put in the option to use the old UI looks in campaigns and battles? If not,idk probably never.

The locked new UI and controls that are still impossible to match to the original ruin it for me sadly

@@redstar96gr57 They have added more UI changes that are more appropriate. Like ones that cover the whole screen. You have to click the option for it one time and it remembers your choice. The path finding wasn’t perfect in the original, but I’d say it’s more comparable.
