As a ex sapper who joined at 17 in 1989 I’ve been highly critical of today’s modern British Army and its standards and transition over that time. However, I have to say this video has so much more appeal to a potential young soldier than the current “polished” offering screened on our TV’s. Whoever uploaded this seriously needs to take considerable credit for putting this together, sincerely well done.

That would be Fabziy, the Sgt this channel belongs to. Unfortunately the British Army does not seem to recognise or credit such amazing input and work. I guess he will highly appreciate your comment though.

Rabelaisian Polemicist Speaking from wealth of experience here, and the fact that Fabziy is not credited for his work is just another piece of evidence of Br Army’s bias

Nat Nice Mmmm ... you’ve lost me regarding the Army’s bias, however this chap’s channel has some cracking content which deserves some real recognition. Truth be told so much so I think he should approach the top brass with any ideas he has for future productions (if he’s so inclined of course). Thanks for staying part of the conversation👍

Rabelaisian Polemicist 😁 ah some things can only be said ‘between the lines’..... but yes, his work does wonders for recruitment and morale which quite a lot of people say in the comments and his command and others in the Army should be able to see the same as his viewers but they don’t which speaks for itself. Nice talking to you! And thanks for your service 👍

I went through basic training at the guards depot in the early 80's, I always remember one of our instructors telling a lad who wanted to leave . "if you jack in now. you'll never achieve anything, it will always be easier to quit than dig in" . That struck a chord with me, these youngsters who are passing out made the right choice, and for any of you thinking seriously about military service, basic training is the transition from civilian to soldier, it can be considerably tougher after basic, but you will be far better prepared for some of the hardships to come. Good luck to any of you joining in the near future. Its a rewarding life, which i miss every day.

My best advice would be to watch a few documentaries on all aspects of army life. This video only highlights how it is to do a little basic training but they don't yet have the experience to advise on actual army life which is quite different. Its a good life but be aware you may go on active service tours, get badly injured, witness terrible injuries or get killed and there's also the dreaded PTSD. I know this sounds grim but it's the reality. Be sure you understand all the pros and cons. It's very real not just a social club. Good luck if you decide to join. I was former infantry, did 9 years and 5 tours.

If you find out about or are offered any type of qualification or course, Do It! If you do not throw yourself in 100% then you will miss so many opportunities that you do not find in civi street. This video shows me that the camaraderie and collective spirit is light years better than anything in civvy Street. And when they belt out the National Anthem at the end standing on the seats it doesn't get any better than that. So proud and appreciative of these soldiers. Fantastic video and production as usual. Well done @fabziy

Good that the RLC have named the troops after VC recipients. I was RCT Maritime 90 to 93 and passed out best recruit in B Waterloo Troop at Buller Bks. Well done new breed. I left 4 weeks before RCT RLC rebadge, so old school SLR. Early SA80 L1 A1. Any of you lads going Maritime?

Best day of your life passing out meeting your family afterwards, a bit leave then join your unit, this is when your soldiering really starts. If your young keen and fit there's no reason at all whmy you shouldn't pass out. I'd do it all again if I had my time again. 😊

Former guardsman who did his sprog time in 1960s Pirbright and Caterham, what an accommodation change for the better. Different breed in some respects, better educated and better fed. Credits to the youngsters!

TIL that Sergeant Stubby, a stray dog found during military training in 1917, served with the 102nd Infantry Regiment in WWI, saving them repeatedly due to his ability to smell mustard gas at a distance. After the war, he became a celebrity, meeting three presidents and traveling around the country

This in my honest and humble opinion is far better than any other recruitment the MOD roll out. Honest and non-bias opinions from the lads and you actually feel through the video some sense of togetherness if you was watching this as a neutral. I passed out at pirbright many years ago and went on to do some great things within the RLC so would fully recommend. Still a bunch of crow bags though them lot!😂

Bit annoyed, I spent the last 4 months training to get in, did the interview, but got declined at the triage due to some eczema I had back in 2017-8. Gonna give it a couple months and re-apply again with better proof of my medical history. Either way, these lads did great. Goodluck everyone :)

those barracks are so much nicer than what the U.S haves us in, we where in a bay 60 + men. you are lucky to get hot water in those bays. but I wouldn't change a thing during basic. we learned to make do. you learn to rely on you guys, very cutoff from the outside world. No phone, no sugar/candy/caffeine. drill sgt, everywhere destroying you for the slightest infractions. was the best and worst of times
