Shelley I do love this foundation for my 61 year old skin. That being said it was finicky in the beginning. I spot conceal my hyperpigmentation, and then apply it with a damp sponge as I want a very sheer coverage. I set my t-zone with translucent pressed powder. I finish by buffing with my Hourglass Ambient powder. I don’t use a primer, but I moisturize heavily before starting. This foundation looks beautiful throughout the day and doesn’t emphasize the texture around my mouth. I’m sorry it didn’t work for you, but might with some tweaking. Thanks for the great review!

I've been considering this foundation for almost a year and here you are again helping with the decision. I think I'll wait to see what you have to say on your next Foundation Follow-up video. Thanks for another great review, Shelly! Ps. Although I think you were talking about the Hockey Hall of Fame in Toronto, I grew up in the town of the US Hockey Hall of Fame and live nearby now. I grew up LOVING hockey but when my beloved Northstars moved to Texas I was brokenhearted and have not recovered. Come up for a visit, it's impressive! Thanks again for what you do!

I'd love to do a Canadian hockey road trip or something like that!! I can imagine how heartbreaking to lose your team. A 4th-grade heartbreak turned me off of baseball when my Chicago Cubs got knocked out of contention for the World Series. Not quite the same but the heartbreak of sports is real!

I thought your makeup on the balcony with that lighting looked stunning. Hockey in Vancouver, expect rain and expensive seats. Mild winters here, like in Seattle. VIA rail goes across Canada and has glass roofs over the viewing cars. A spectacular trip, in the summer. Love your videos!

Hi Shelly! Thanks so much for getting extra shades of the foundation to show us especially since the descriptions are confusing. For example, Ivory which is for "neutral light complexions with a gold undertone". Although you receive comments that your foundation is too light, this video clearly shows that in natural light this foundation was a smidge too dark. So, I really think it's the reflection of the foundation's pigments from the studio lights that make the shades you choose look artificially too light (ie more reflection from white and very fair pigments). ;)

Yes the direction of light impacts the appearance too - with studio lights coming from a front angle, where the sun comes from overhead. There is always more shadow under my chin in the studio as well, so my neck looks darker than it really is. I have a reflector on the table in front of me, but with products spread out it doesn't fully fill the shadows around my neck. That's why I try to be "fully outside" when I do the daylight check-in. I'm typically a "dark fair" if that makes sense - fair right before it turns light. If I'm self-tanning I can pull off light.

I feel your pain! I have to spackle the crap out of my face with primer and primer oil for any foundation to have a chance. I would also like to know if it's any better with primer. I've been considering purchasing this one for a while. Another great review!!

I'd definitely love to hear the follow-up on this one when you try it with different primers, or sunscreen or moisturizers. The people who love this one seen to really love it and I'm not sure why after seeing its performance here. Also, lol at your wrong outfit.

Hey Shelly, I'm a makeup artist, and this is my favorite foundation to use. Regardless of the claims it works best with a silicone primer and a light veil of powder over top. It's my personal favorite to use on myself too (I'm oily and acne prone tho)

Yes their descriptions seemed confusing when I was initially looking at shades, so I just grabbed a bunch! Hope the swatches help! I'm NW10-15 in MAC for reference.

Yeah I feel like any foundation works when your skin has no texture/lines/pores/etc. I am lucky to have very few issues to deal with, but the issues are real and most people, even if they don't have these issues yet, will have them someday! So I wanted to talk about them! I figured I couldn't be the only one out here struggling! :)

Crazy I have super dry skin and this is my all time favorite and I use it on all of my mature clients and it's not drying at all but I'm a retinA/lactic and glycolic acid + hydrating facial oils addict-- skincare prep is key and thin thin layers and just spot conceal as needed -- less is more!

@@mouseyman def watch gothamista or a skincare channel, low and slow is the game ie start with the lowest conc. possible and work up from 1-3x a week gradually, it's taken YEARS for me to get accustomed to acids, and you always work thinnest texture to thickest so oils would be last and usually a nighttime thing 👍👍

@@mouseyman also it's one of those things where you need to research what mixes with what and you have to have your sunscreen A game on as most make you photo sensitive so if you're not careful you'll do more harm than good, when in doubt a good dermatologist or esthetician should be able to lay things out for you

There are several different foundations for Artlier .. the Ultra is medium to full coverage or oily skin the Ultra Skin ** is light to medium and for dry skin Also Artlier does have concealer and it’s ok to set this foundation They also do recommend to not over moisturize cuz it’s a silicone based foundation

I'll have this in an update soon but the bad news is, I tried 2 other long wear primers and they didn't really help the longevity. This one just seems like, on my body chemistry, it's good for 6 hours or so and that's that. It's very pretty while it's good though!

Tried it a few times. At first it look good but after a few more days of trying it out decided it's not for me. Settled in pores and it seems a little sticky. For now, sticking with my MAC Studio Fix Powder Foundation and Physicians Formula Healthy Foundation. Thanks for your videos.

This foundation is too satin for me in summer but I'm going to get my samples out now that our cold weather has arrived. I WILL use primer! This brand makes a product called transforming gel that can turn a powder into a liquid/ gel. I have found it ( along with using coverfx blurring primer on my eyes) has allowed me to wear shimmer products without looking like an alligator. I use it with my blush too.

I truly can't say enough good things about it and the cover fx primer which is sold as a face primer but takes years off my eyes. I started with samples of both and then bought full sizes.

I also ordered the sample pack of this a few years ago and I didn't like it either. Makes me want to try it again with some of my favorite primers, as I dont think I was as into primers back then as I am now. I was born in Vancouver and I actually moved to Saskatoon on that train (The Rocky Mountainer. I don't rememeber it being glass but it has massive windows and it was a beautiful experience) about 11 years ago today! *Fun fact:* When I boarded the train in Kamloops Nov 19th it was sunshine and blue skies and I was wearing a tank top. When the train stopped in Saskatoon around 2 days later it was -60 celsius with the windchill and one the coldest craziest blizzards SK had ever seen. It took my parner and conductor almost a hour to convince me to get off the train. So yeah, yaaaay Canada! 🌬❄☃️🇨🇦 🤨 I miss the BC coast! 😭

I have had this one on my list, I may give it a pass. I got the Kevyn Aucoin nude palette at the sale and LOVE it!!!! It is the thing I was missing in my collection. I may need a backup too. I also got myself the ND gold but am putting it up for my Christmas present (from my husband- see how that works, and I'll probably have to wrap it myself). Oh and if there is a heaven on earth, for me, it is Vancouver- I love the whole vibe and if I win the lottery, I am heading there to stay!

I had the adjuster in white years back when there were less options on the market and never really liked how it worked with my other foundations. Hope you can figure out something better on the dryness and wear time since it looked so lovely early on!

Do you think this shade would be too light for an nc15 skin? And does it oxidise??

I didn't have trouble with oxidation but I'd say it's closer to NC10 - but they do sell a darkening mixer as well. This shade is probably a little too like for 15.

😺👍 I had high hopes for this from the beginning looked GREAT on you when you applied it! Interested to know if it was the lack of primer. I tried it some years back and didn't continue with it, but don't recall why :(. I had the little plastic bottle. One foundation to possibly put on your list for another time if you've not tried it is DOLL 10 hydro gel foundation. I think you might like it and others that are some what dry, but not full on Sahara dry like myself. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving Shelly!

Bummer on the wear time. It looked so smooth on your skin, especially during the daylight check-in. :/ I've been to Vancouver, BC. It is a beautiful place however, we drove up and parked to have lunch. When we came back to my car, which was brand new at the time, the back window was smashed in and everything inside was gone. :-O Not the best first impression...Sigh....

This one was a no go for my normal to slightly combo skin. Looked great on initial application but had almost zero longevity. Even with various primers, powder, and setting spray. :(

We have very similar skin, even the dehydration showing up in the lower crows feet. And this foundation doesn’t work for me at all. I had exact same issues with it as you did.

You applied a lot of that foundation. You only need a little bit. Put a thin layer on and build it if you need to.

Hi Jay! I do get better performance from this one with a different primer. I like the putty primers the best with it (Tatcha Silk Canvas or the Elf putty primer, or the Tarte one that the name is escaping me right now...) but it works with silicone primers too. It still settles into deeper lines on me regardless of which primer I use, and wear maxes out around 9-10 hours (so it's not exceptionally long wearing) but it's definitely pretty within those parameters. I'd put it solidly in the B range as a very pretty foundation that is slightly drying on me and slightly settles into lines.

I am 39, have a lot of texture from acne. I recently had the first of 3 microneeding sessions. Have you considered doing anything like that? I have noticed a slight difference but it has only been a week and a half. It takes time for the skin to heal (21 plus days) and improve.

As it is a silicone based foundation primer is not used...And trust me..You won't need it!!

OMG it looked stunning at first...but it looked horrible at the end of the day..I can imagine it would look alot worse on me bc I'm an oil slick..but great video my friend..and happy Thanksgiving..be safe and enjoy your holiday!!

Hy Shelly!! what tipe of powder did u use on top of the Face Atelier? They say u should use a no color powder like rcma instead of a collored powder, cause that will cake.

Hi Gucci! I did not set it with powder since their web site said it would set down on its own (and it did, so I didn't have trouble blending on top of it).

Hi Shelly, Good for you and your hockey!!! I LOVE baseball! Red Sox to be exact....I was born and brought up in Boston and have followed them for years, they just won the World Series and my favorite player Mookie Betts just won the MVP!!! Do you watch the Bruins? I don't but they are from Boston. Anyway....a little off track....I have said this a couple times but I have had the same exact experience with that foundation even with a primer. It looks beautiful at first but disintegrates after maybe 3 hours. I also tried powdering because it never seemed to set. I do know some people love it, just not in my top foundations. Happy Thanksgiving, Beverly! I do watch the Bruins sometimes :) Years ago they had a guy named PJ Stock who was one of the first NHL players to have a blog and interact with fans on the web (before social media blew up). He was awesome and I always gave props to the Bruins for being one of the pioneers of opening up players to the fan base like that. I like the east coast teams the best after the Blackhawks! I am a baseball fan too (though hockey is #1) - I was a Chicago Cubs fan as a kid, then in 1984 they broke my heart (I was in 4th grade and I remember it like it was yesterday). Then I was a White Sox fan for years, boycotting the Cubs. I did watch the Cubs win the World Series and it gave me an odd bit of closure :) So I don't boycott them anymore, but I don't keep up with baseball the way I do with hockey.

Happy Thanksgiving, Jamie!! I'm going to do a whole video on what I've done so far in the next couple of weeks. I've reduced my dark spots quite a bit in the past 3 years with just over-the-counter stuff. I started with Aveeno soy moisturizers (the Positively Radiant line) and it did a good job starting out. Then I did a trial of the Juice Beauty Green Apple Age Defy kit (I still use the serum). Now I'm doing acid toners.

I think from what I have learned from other videos, you did not ,oisterize enough and let it set before you applied the makeup. The little bit of primer you use was not enough to moisturizer. Also, did you say you set it with powder? You are not supposed to do that either. That might be why it settled in spots.

Hi Candy! I moisturize under all of my foundations (moisturizer is my last skin care step before sunscreen). Unfortunately I tried this foundation several ways after this video (as I do with any that don't perform to my expectations) and could not get it to work any better. I've got a foundation follow-up video where I talk about other ways I tried to get this to work (different primer, no primer, no powder, less product). Not all products work on all people - body chemistry is a fascinating thing! I'm guessing that it works for you, and I'm glad for that!

Lately I keep rotating between Estée Lauder Double Wear Nude in cool bone and the Ilia serum foundation in the lightest shade (formentano?)
