Ralpho Fire Company is a station that was initially built in 1927. Over the years they have gone through a couple of renovations adding to the original footprint. They are 100% Volunteers, with the main coverage area of 19 square miles near the Anthracite Coal Region in central Pennsylvania's Susquehanna River Valley. They currently have three pieces of apparatus one of which is a 2020 Pierce Quint which they use as a primary response vehicle. Firefighter and President, Erik Santor, takes us on a tour of the station providing us with its rich history. The station is undergoing yet another project by converting the original engine bays into a workout center and crew lounge for their members. You may notice a small town but these firefighters are well trained and professional. Feel free to stop by anytime and talk to the crews. Consider volunteering if you live in the area, they always can use more great people.

We are the "Ralpho Fire Co #1" Since we are in a little village called Overlook, many just say "Overlook Fire Company " But we have a Shamokin Address...confused yet? Lol Primarily we serve Ralpho Township but mutual aid to Shamokin, Shamokin Twp, Coal Twp and beyond

Quint has 5 main tools hence where the name “quint” comes from. Water, pump, fire hose, ground ladders, and an aerial ladder.

@@ammardardari2314 and say, you need an aerial and water, who manns aerial and who pump? And how much firefighters are left for "actual work". Or do some personell come in their own vehicles, and thus, the cab capacity is not a limiting factor? Another question: say the quint is already on hydrant and pumping, how do you relocate the aerial if the need arises?

@@solarissv777 it all depends on the task on hand. There are 2 main types of apparatus’s for fire ground operation. The engine company (fire attack) and the truck company (VEIS) Depending how departments operate they may assign a different tasks to those companies. Your engineer or (driver) would be the pump operator or the arial operator. Some volunteer departments may do things differently but most commonly this is the job of the engineer. If the “quint” is first on the scene. There primary task is A. Are there any lives at stake? B. If no for A, then the objective is putting wet stuff on the red stuff. The primary positioning for an Arial 99% of the time is directly in front of the structure involved. Once the arial is set in place, there is no moving it unless there’s a life safety concern. I hope I was able to answer all your questions.
