I’ve bought non starters and won, I’ve bought non starters and lost, but in either situation, I’ve paid a price where if it is worst case scenario, then I can’t lose. I’ve bought a non running car that needed an interior light globe. A model of Ford won’t start if there’s no globe in the interior light. I bought it for $50, brought it home, washed it, polished it, cleaned it all up, put a globe in, started it, serviced it and had it for sale the next day, and sold the one after at $4500. If you check as much as you can, then it’s a lot safer to buy a non runner confidently.

I think it's good that you put this video up to try make it aware that FB marketplace is good for deals occasionally, but if it's too good to be true there might be reason at to why. However I'm with old mate on this when he said it would've had to have made a noticeable noise for valves and a spark plug to be melted to the piston someone must've known something. I'd be calling the person who sold it to you if they don't make it right launch a piston through the window of their house and a new part each week. Really dislike people thinking they can get away with this.

Thanks for doing a video on Marketplace scam mobiles. In your shoes, I would have gone to one of the wreckers as quite a few V6 Camrys get dumped there (some sadly quite clean, many in grandpa spec and grandchildren don’t want the car) and throw another whole motor at it. Marketplace tends to be full of shitboxes. I bought one intentionally as I knew it was a shitbox and paid shitbox money for it (currently sorting its many issues out). It will be doing things that only a serious shitbox can do (more on that later). However, there are so many scammers and dodgy cars there on Marketplace. Saw another one recently and couldn’t believe the disaster the guy was selling for the price ($3500 for a rust bucket).

I've seen totaled or wrecked cars that were like 15 years old without the title and for parts only sell for $1,700 or 1500. This camera is actually in decent shape as far as the body and everything else it just needs to get an engine swap out which isn't that expensive if you go find a salvage engine and know how to do the work yourself

Yo, you know when every cashpoint is down that's a sign right?!? When even spiderman is tryna tell you not to go and you still go and get it. Well as they say... you live and learn, right?

If the cylinder wall isn’t scored, Why don’t you replace the piston and rod and cylinder head with a good used one? That’s totally doable.

Neighbours hating you because of the number of cars you have. Know that one. We had someone buy a house across the road and had full prior knowledge, still hate us.

When you jump start a car, the good one has to be running. 🙄

You can’t expect people to know things about cars. The car doesn’t start, that might be all they know. Anyway it’s a Camry, one of the cars known to be poorly maintained because they’re a cheap car, and most Camry drivers are lucky to know what colour their car is, I doubt they even know where oil goes. Pull the head, drop the sump, throw a used piston in it, used head, some thick oil and resell it.

What is wrong with you?! You bought a car that is clearly listed as not starting and are surprised when it doesn’t start? Grow up, you took a risk and it didn’t pay off. Own it
