Another not completely 100% vanilla timelapse video for your consumption. Yes I know this doesn't make it vanilla in your eyes and yes I know how dare I for calling it such. It's my video, it took a lot of time to make, this is what I consider vanilla to be, and frankly, I get to call it what I like. So there.
Mods as follows:
Bluebuild
Fill4Me
Flow Control
Inventory Sensor
OreErasor
TLBE
aai-vehicles-miner
clock
helmod
what is really used for

Amazing. This is what I envisioned when I learned about the concept of megabase in Factorio, I wanted to create pretty much this, very neat and organized base, with walled sections. But because my brain is tiny I cant. But I still try after hundreds of hours!

@@gere7739 If I'm being completely honest with you all of these time-lapse videos have been about creating a cool time-lapse video. A decent sized base but not too big to manage that made an interesting video which wasn't unbearably long and was fun to build. However, voices such as yours have made me realise that this won't cut the mustard, beautiful and cool isn't enough. I need to up my game. It is coming.

Strange you say it’s vanilla and use lots of mods. But still, nice to see, nice to enjoy. Lots and lots of hours spent. I didn’t saw time pass during the video. Too bad i didn’t recognized each part. Maybe a little comment somewhere to describe what you are doing? Keep on the good work!

This was the third video I ever made and, at the time, I was not up to speed on what constituted a vanilla factory. In saying that, I needed a mod to make the timelapse so no timelapse video is ever truly 100% vanilla. If you want some kind of explanation, the evolution of design video (kzfaq.info/get/bejne/fLxjq7WYs7S4gaM.html) kinda goes through the process.

Would you be willing to do a short video explaining your design philosophy at some point? I've really enjoyed watching your videos and I've noticed that you follow a similar schema across all of the playthroughs you've done, and the end result is always meticulously well organized and aesthetically pleasing.

@theotherbigfoot
@theotherbigfoot 6 ай бұрын
I don't think it's as stupid as you think, I had to watch the video back to remind myself!! The answer is water barrels. These two small blocks (kzfaq.info/get/bejne/r5Z9jd2G3dTShI0.htmlsi=wz68yB3GR6lQizS3&t=233) feed the entire factory with all the water it needs. Every process that needs water gets it from these barrels. I have a whole video on barrels (kzfaq.info/get/bejne/a8t2idZzyJase58.html) if you are interested.

@@theorclord The barrels in this factory probably couldn't, this factory was the first time I had tried barrelling water for nuclear power. But give it a couple years and we get to my racetrack II and this one worked fine, eventually. Its just a case of getting the numbers right. My uni lecturer used to say that a big thing is really just the same as a small thing, the numbers just have slightly different orders of magnitude. If you can design a small thing, and you know how to scale it, then you should be able to design a big thing.

@@theotherbigfoot vanilla by definition means no mods/add ons. Saying “this is vanilla to me” just makes it seem like you are confused by the word. Sorry just trying to help. Don’t worry about this not being vanilla. Doesn’t change a thing
@theotherbigfoot
@theotherbigfoot Жыл бұрын
@@ryuk5673 I know what vanilla means. I also know that I couldn't make a timelapse video without a mod. So by your definition (and everyone else's) it would be impossible to make a vanilla timelapse. Zero mods whatsoever is zero mods. I know I'm picking hairs because I have used other mods as well and this kind a confuses the issue but lets just say that I wanted to make a 100% vanilla timelapse, would someone come along and complain because I had installed a mod. Probably. So for me the issue kind of ends there. Vanilla is whatever I consider it to be, it is whatever you consider it to be and there isn't any reason why we both can't be right.

No, its legit. I think I was using an AAI miner to cut down trees, its nearly two years ago now. Regarding the tech, just because you haven't unlocked it doesn't mean you can't build it. I layout my factories way before I've unlocked the individual techs I'm building. Blue chips is generally one of the first things that gets built but it could be 50 hours before I actually turn the assembly machines on. I just route everything to it as if it was unlocked.

I have given up a few times trying to build a mega base. It could be because I leave biters on and messed around with a Mod that makes biters tougher. But its becoming a Grind for me. I am not sure but I have seen your tuber use some sort of remote access to get stuff being stored. Not logistics robots. It seems they can use Map view to refill their inventory wen they click on a chest. i end up running backwards and forwards at the default slow speed to get again 10 inserters only to have to do it again and again and again for whatever item I need. I like the game but its very grinding and then add to that just as you thought you good Biters attack and take out half your power production. My opinion you cant build a mega base with default settings. Biters off. Ore set Max yield and close. Hence why I stop and start again because I get to a point and then I find out I missed something like I should have generated a better Map that has more trees...helps with pollution. @@theotherbigfoot
@theotherbigfoot
@theotherbigfoot 8 ай бұрын
@@user-jr2ue9nu6y Setting up the map at the start of a game is actually a really important thing to get right. I have got it wrong many times. If I am doing a large base then ore patches all get increased to 300% and starting area is maxed out. Screw the default settings, playing a game is about having fun and if it is becoming a grind then I think you haven't set it up for the way you play the game. For me it is all about the factory. I want the biters, it is boring without them, but they need to be setup in a way that gives me enough peace and quiet to be able to actually build the factory, which is where the fun is for me. Other youtubers like the challenge of deathworlds, with biters set pretty much to max, I think that is hell on earth. There is no one way to play this game. We all play it differently. I can give my perspective and someone else can give theirs but to you we could both be wrong. It is about finding what works for you.
