Over the years, JTR has been highly praised by owners and by those who have heard demos of them. I wanted to see what all of the hype was about so I flew to Wisconsin to visit JTR Headquarters to get a behind the scenes tour with owner and president, Jeff Permanian. Visit JTR - bit.ly/jtrspeakers
During my tour, Jeff shared with me his product line of speakers and subwoofers as well as the engineering behind the products that he hand builds himself. As you will see in the video, Jeff uses high end components to ensure that he provides the best components for his products.
I have several other videos I will be making from the trip including two JTR Home Theater Room tours and a JTR 2ch setup so be sure to subscribe and hit the notification bell.
A huge thank you to JTR Speakers for sponsoring this video series.

Very cool video, I have to admit that I had a hard time taking you seriously when you first started your channel, but now you have one of the best audio/video channels around with fun content. What you lacked in knowledge initially you made up with enthusiasm. I am very glad that you made me eat my words and I look forward to your content. Thank you sir.

I think the biggest problem and my biggest gripe with the audiophile/home theater community is the snobbery and self righteousness. I enjoy channels like youthman, techno dad, joe and tell, fomo and even the audiophiliac because of their honest from the heart opinions. I also love audioholics for calling out the snake oils of the industry when it’s backed by scientific fact. Mostly where my issues come from is the forums on redddit etc... while there’s lots of cool people in these communities, I have had people call me a flat out liar. I’ve admitted my mistakes or misunderstandings of course befor... but there’s few times I’ve literally posted my respectable sources to back my statements and after being called whatever, they never even acknowledge they were wrong. I think this community could do a great service to itself to instead of calling someone basically an idiot, guide them in the right direction... or listen and respond respectfully to an opinion that might conflict with their own.

@@Paranimal86 I think there are a lot of people with engineering/science backgrounds in this hobby. They tend to like measurements and precision, especially with their data. It's always risky posting an opinion in this environment. Just stop caring what they say or think. At the end of the day, your system has to please only you, and thats all that matters.

My dream is to someday replace my subs with a pair of JTR Captivator 4000ULF subs. I've experienced subs from JTR a few times and am completely sold. I've met Jeff a couple of times as well. He's a good guy that makes great speakers. I hope this video grows Jeff's business and wish success to both Jeff of JTR as well as Youthman .

I had no idea the mid/high-frequency driver itself in the "R" series speakers cost $900 EACH. That's insane, but it shows the true quality that goes into these speakers. Those drivers are made in Germany, to 0.02% tolerances... pretty amazing. That is truly ultra-high end. The cross overs shown are massive, and probably similarly expensive. Those are just 2 of the components that goes into each speaker, not including the expensive Baltic Birch, high-end wiring, high end insulation, high-end binding posts, etc. There are no holds barred here. Even if you were to try to manufacture something similar to these yourself at home (which would likely turn out poorly), using the same raw components, it would still be a very expensive endeavor! Hats off to JTR.

You rock michael. We never had the opportunity to look inside JTR (Jeff's) production facility until now. But you did it. Now, after looking at the components Jeff uses (the Crossover especially) for his products, we know what Quality products look like. That is a Behemoth crossover, even more commanding than the Sub-drivers and the Amplifiers used in the Captivators. Good effort travelling all the way. We appreciate your passion. We love you both Michael and Jeff. Just wish I could own a pair of RS2s. My best wishes. and keep up you good smile Michael.

I have had JTR Speakers for years. In fact my entire 7.1.4 system is JTR, but until this video, I knew very little about how they were made or the size of the company. I am really glad you made this trip and that Jeff was so open about giving us insight into his business. Like you said in one of the comments above, it is obvious that Jeff uses the best possible components and by being an internet direct company is able to offer the speakers with very little markup which creates a tremendous value.

@@Youthman They are doing great!! Tony and I calibrated them a few weeks ago and with the My dual PSA T-18's is it a blast (no pun intended haha). We had them all firing within 1ms of each other and I could not tell which one of the 4 was firing, which is exactly what you want. I watch most movies now at -10 or -5 and leave ref for a few movies when I am watching with a friend or solo. My theater is 25x18x11 (5000 cu ft) and when we put the gas on, it can not be measure by a meter that only goes up to 130db(UMIK bottoms out) . I told Scott Newby I might actually be able to hit 140db in my size room, but will probably never try. Beyond just the power, having quad subs, gives me the surround feel now with explosions, which is what I was looking for. The PSA T-18s are awesome, but have quads(16K watts total) are in a different realm. The RS2s dig a alot deeper then the T-18's under 20hz and never break a sweat. With REW, we have the line almost flat from 20-100hz within 1db +/- either way and then added a house curve for movies. I have the Mini DSP HD set up for 2 configurations. First is a near flat response for Music and the second with the house curve for movies. It works out well. You will have to stop by if and when you are ever in Wisconsin again :)

With all the panic from the virus going on, I actually think these home theater companies will be ok... sure the economy might take a hit for a little bit but more people will want to stay home to watch the latest flick... some people will be influenced to stay home and may invest more into their home theater. @@Youthman The new stuff is gonna be the LCR, prior L&R were 212RTs, prior center 210RM which make up the surrounds also, with the 4 110's for uppers, the RS2 will join a 4000ULF mounted on the ceiling [that was a lot of fun getting up there! the RS2 will stay on the ground], the 212s will become surrounds with 210RMs becoming back surrounds for a 7.2.4 system. It never ceases to amaze me as is and it's only gonna get better when the new stuff gets in, about 5-6 weeks away..

Love the video! I’m a huge fan of JTR and use dual Captivator 1400’s in my dedicated space. Jeff was really nice to deal with back on 2017 when i got them. Before JTR I was never satisfied with the bass output from other brands in my space and went thru new subs every 6-12 months. I use JBL PRO CINEMA mains and surrounds and needed subwoofers that could keep with them when I got heavy handed with the volume. My JTRs can do that for me.

I'm definitely going to be in the market for these. The only thing I would like to see different is the aesthetics of the woofer. I love the flat look of a SVS or JL. I like to run without grilles, so just want something a bit more modern looking.

Definitely not a "fancy" looking speaker or woofer. Jeff is mostly focused on performance with very simple aesthetics. He is able to do custom finishes for an additional fee.

Yep. Open up a pair of Klipsches and you'll be disappointed to find an essentially empty box and a cheap crossover network. It seems like Jeff is taking what Klipsch SHOULD have evolved into and making it into a reality. And this is coming from someone who has owned many Klipsch over the years. Seeing what Jeff is doing with these speakers makes me realize how much other manufacturers cheap out.

Awsome video, all those JTR speakers in one place. I would love to have home theater setup! And I grew up not to far from JTR so would like to support local business. One day I will be placing my order. I have SVS and love them but would really like to test out the sealed subs. With other brands i felt i had to go ported to reach lower frequency. So I have a question. I currently own a pair of klipsch "the sixes" paired with a 12" klipsch reference sub I listen to 90% music 10% movies. I'm in the process of upgrading. I love a huge wide sound stage, should I stick to a 2 channel with a sub or a left center right with a sub. I'm not looking into rear speakers just a large seamless sound stage for music. What do you recommend??

JTR Speakers I”m looking into using your 3-way monitors on top of 2 of your subs up front, the sealed sub with short depth such as Captivator RS2”s. Which would integrate the best /smoothest for home theater? I would be considering either the 210RM, 212 HTR, or 215 RM, 3 of them placed LCR on top of he RS2’s (on their side) up front. Seems the 215RM might be overkill with sub and the 210RM about ideal? My room is a bit larger than average, about 7000 cf / 650 sqft, and about 19 ft to prime listening position, another row behind. Thanks!
