I just made this card, all thanks to your great instructions! The bleach technique (FOR ME), was just too difficult and too much trouble. I decided to use my white ink pen. Much easier and less time consuming. My card turned out absolutely beautiful, but nothing like yours! Your card was gorgeous. I'm planning on making 7 of these cards. I wonder where you got your sponges? Thumbs up!

Never thought of using bleach what type of card did you use? Done in darker colours that birch tree would make a fabulous Christmas card looking like it was in snow

WOW Dave, this was a very informative video! I have to say the faeries, tree die, lantern and (especially) the dandelion are absolutely GORGEOUS dies! The cards AND techniques were all amazing. However, I do have one question: Once you spray the water/bleach mixture did you quickly blot it before sponging on more ink? I would think the wet droplets would move when sponged if you didn't but that part wasn't clear to me so I wanted to know before I try it! Thanks for the wonderful video! Your cards are truly beautiful!

Hi Teresa - I only wait a few seconds. The droplets absorb almost immediately, so there is just a little leftover moisture that seems to effect the ink colors. I would say that there is a window of just a minute or two depending on how warm the room is. You'll notice that the larger spatters stay wet longer - but the smaller drops require you to work within the first few minutes. You will LOVE it - I am still making backgrounds this morning...

Great cards! I just found your channel and love your techniques. I will try some of these. They all came out great. Can you tell me how you mixed the water and bleach solution to get the splatters on the the Distressed inks? What is the ratio of water to bleach? Thanks.

If I wanted to make your soloution of water/bleach for the small mister by Ranger, what would the formula be? Hi Debbie - try 1/2 teaspoon bleach to a cup of water. This should give you a nice white spatter - if you increase the amount of bleach, then some halos might appear around the splatter (the bleach spreading into the ink, which can look pretty cool too!). I would say start with a weak bleach solution - it's always easier to add a little more!

Does the damp sponge( from the bleach mixture on card) affect the ink pad ?

It didn't seem to affect them - but to be extra safe, you could squirt some reinker onto a craft mat, and ink up your sponge from there. That way you won't risk any contamination from the bleach

really cool effect but won't the bleach contaminate the ink pad when you go between the 2 while the bleach is wet?

Good question Helen! I tested this out, comparing stamping with a pad I was using for the projects versus a separate pad, and it didn't seem to have any noticeable effect. I think that the amount of bleach in the solution is small enough that it was safe.
