Showed up to the site and noticed water pooling above the septic tank. This is a clear indicator that the drainfield is not working properly.

You do a great job of explaining what can happen and what does happen in the whole process that people would prefer to ignore.

All houses should have a minimum 1500 gal tank with matching leach field. Even if only 2-3 bedrooms. This allows reserve capacity. Turn the water on and off when taking shower. Run your wash machine to a separate tile. The bacteria need time to break down solids and time is needed for settling. Don't rely totally on outlet filter. If they filtered that well you'd have to clean them every month and nobody is going to do that. Septic systems can easily last 50 plus years with maintenance and common sense water conservation.

This is false, the bacteria will eventually be "overloaded" by higher intake than exhaust of the effluent water. Also depending on how moist an area is can depend how quickly a drain field gets saturated if at all.

Size really has no bearing on anout being discharged to field lol Just allows for more solid storage the tanks stay full and when you turn on water the amount coming out of taps is the amount going to the septic field regardless of tank size

I honestly don't know how they made it inside of the tank. They must've crawled into the pipes through the vent or sinks

Plastic tanks, sounds like not a good idea, our old one was cement and it was only used for about 6 years till city sewer came out but the drain field was starting to fail and I honestly believe it was because of a tree mom planted

Is there actually a product that will save a clogged drain field? It's been fine for years and years. Had the tank drained for preventative maintenance and now it's clogging up.

Hi I’m currently buying a house and it has septic. The inspector performed a septic inspection where he ran several hundred gallons of water through the system and there were no issues. Is this a good sign or not a sufficient inspection? I’m planning to have the tank pumped once I move in. Btw love the channel. I never miss a chance to see the crust buster in action!

Best bet is to ask the sellers if they’ve had issues with leech field saturation. Pay attention to the size of the field, understand if you are in a high water table area your system will face issues during heavy rain and snow fall. also make sure you’re not at the bottom of a slope/hill. Check your soil type, if it’s heavy clay subsurface you will face percolation issues with your field. Have the inspector or owner pull records from the municipality regarding septic design schematics, if the system had to be granted a variances that may also be something g to look into. Not necessarily cause for concern but variances are granted when system design has to be scaled back due to lot size or water conditions in the area. Find out how the system performs during heavy rain and frequent snow if you live in a region experiencing those weather events often

@@PoorPumperSociety Just came across your channel and I’m really enjoying the content. I would imagine there’s many others like me that would love to see more behind the scenes of your operation. The more details the better. Also, just my opinion but if you could show the entire process of some of your jobs that would be huge! With this video as an example we’re kinda left hanging not able to see your service truck come out, explore the lines with whatever device you use, then find a solution for the customer. I have no clue if you can even make that possible but I believe it could add a whole other level to your channel. Plus it gives us the viewer the satisfaction of the job being completed. Hope Im not out of line but I can tell you take so much pride in your work as well as your channel and wanted to give you my 2 cents. Hope it helps in some way. Best of luck!

I have been in my brand new home for a year and a half and already had to pump the septic my toilets were gurgling. The man that pumped my septic sayd my drain field isn’t working once he took the filter out the water didn’t drain but we have no saturation on my yard everything is dry . We wish to figure it out because having our septic wasn’t cheap. Does anyone have an idea what it could possibly be be this our first time living in a house with septic and drain fields

Will a French drain help a saturated leech field
@SawmillerSmith
@SawmillerSmith 2 жыл бұрын
Yes it might help. When it rains and the septic systems field is under water there's no place for the water to go coming from the house. Here we run a trench 10 feet out around the leach field and let the rain water drain out at a lower location. The trench is usually 38 inches deep filled with washer gravel to the top with a 4 inch drain pipe at the bottom of the trench.

Question, I recently purchased a property. Got the sceptic tanks (2) pumped out. After heavy rain fall, the sceptic tank was filled to the brim. I pumped out the water out of it since the property was still not used and noticed that from the outlet pipe the water was rushing into the tank. Obviously when it rained hard, there was more rain water gushing from the outlet pipe into the tank. My question, how can water travel up the pipe? Shouldn't the outlet pipe have a sloping pitch so that this does not happen? I also dug 2 feet into the leach field and found crushed stone, and sanding water. It appears that the leach field is no longer infiltrating the rain water. Any advice?
