One time my brother left the door open and my 15 lb dog escaped and ran over to the neighbor who was out in his garage. The neighbor ended up kicking my dog to get him away and you know what?? It absolutely amazes me that the defendant takes zero responsibility for the situation when she herself admits that she allowed her dog to escape by accident, she says that her dog is socialized but what difference does that make just because your dog is socialized doesn't mean he didn't get out and attack another dog and I don't care if he was provoked by the man trying to kick him away but for the simple fact that the defendant allowed her dog to escape this situation would have never occurred, just like the judge said they don't punish the animals they punish the owners and their Behavior or in this case the owner's negligence.

Our neighbors let their Border Collie out to run loose every day at all times of the day. I tried speaking to them about it and they insisted that “he’s harmless, he loves people, just shoo him away if he comes to your house, etc”. That dog was not trained in any way, he shredded our kids’ sports balls and bit holes into our trampoline, pooped everywhere, got into our garbage. I finally called animal control and they were given warning after warning but still let it out. Last summer, we were having a bbq, our kids were swimming and my 5 year old got out and sat down on the porch step to eat a hot dog. That dog ran up to her, snapped at her hand while she was taking a bite of her food and my daughter tried to turn away from the dog and it snapped at her again and bit her in her face. She had 2 large gaping holes in her little cheek that required an ER visit. The doctor glued it shut and 2 days later she was rushed into emergency surgery because it had become severely infected and was rapidly spreading into her jaw and towards her eye. They had to open it back up and do a debridement, scraping out all the infection and then left it open to heal. Her scar is very large and discolored. My neighbor has never once apologized or asked about my daughter, and despises us to this day because they had to get rid of the dog per their landlord. I guess it was my 5 year olds fault for sitting on her own porch with her family, enjoying her hot dog. There is no reasoning with this level of ignorance.
