One thing I forgot to go back and explain; One reason you want to pause your game has to do with milestones and mission objectives. Some of them may be time-sensitive, such as getting colonists to Mars by Sol 15. Feel free to add any other tips for beginners.🤓

Yes, thanks for the video, I would add that depending on where you land, but in your case, you have small stones surrounding your landing area, I would have flattened the area before laying any building. In my honest opinion, your biggest mistake was not getting the concrete mining up and running from the get go, almost every basic product needs concrete. Then water is your second priority, if none then moisture evaporators must be imported.

This was helpful, but I'd be lying if I said I didn't chuckle when you stated 'I won't give obvious tips' and then straightaway informed me that I can pause the game. :)

Hey really cool game and thanks for the good tips! One thing I observed is that you built a long pipe line but one tip that maybe you may know is, you can build a tunnel and connect the pipes without the fear that a meteorit could distroy it and all the problems that brings. Thx very helpful!
@FailroadExpress
@FailroadExpress 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks, Kevin. You're definitely right about the tunnels. They do solve a lot of problems that long Pipelines create. I didn't think to mention those. They come in handy for the towards the mid game because of their high price.

Overcoming these challenges is one of the fun parts of the game but, when it seems like all hope is lost, you can't help but feel bad for the colonists. I hope my tips help you out! Thanks for the comment.

I just always run out of money and metal, dude I’m on thin ice right now
@FailroadExpress
@FailroadExpress Жыл бұрын
The whole game is a delicate balance. Use your transports to find metal from rocks on the surface. Send a rocket on a mission to capture more meteors if you run out of surface materials to harvest. Scan the surface on your map to discover more resources. See if there are alternative buildings you can build that use less metal and don't require metal for upkeep. Be sure to send rockets loaded with rare metals back to earth to gain more money. There are also techs you can research multiple times to earn more money. That's a start but, of course, it gets more complicated than that.

@FailroadExpress
@FailroadExpress Жыл бұрын
@@mrfluffybeehive I'd say normal or easy for the company/nation and when you choose a landing sight at the beginning of the game check the stats of that landing sight. Make sure it's rich in metals and water, doesn't have cold waves and has few dust storms. A difficulty rating of 200 or less should be fine.

If it's the first map you're talking about, you can type in the coordinates of the landing sight and you should get something similar. You can see the coordinates on the upper left part of the screen when I'm looking around on the Mars map.

Hey just started playing and I lost my little dude who scans for things. I think I unpinned him by right clicking his icon. Do you know how to get it back up? I can’t find the little dude anywhere on the map.
@FailroadExpress
@FailroadExpress 2 жыл бұрын
Good news. It's really easy to find your explorer and pin it back up. Click on your Command Center Icon at the bottom of the screen or press "Z" to bring it up. In the Command Center Menu on the left side, click "Transportation." Then click on "RC Rovers" and double click your RC Explorer. This will take you right to it on the map. You can then re-pin it by clicking on the pin button at the bottom of the explorer's sidebar.

I dont get how you are supposed to share resources to different domes far away, i have dome that i built far away to get metal but need concrete from other dome , is making runs witha transport vehicle the only way? And why cant i automate it so it moves it automatically and keep it stocked?
@FailroadExpress
@FailroadExpress Жыл бұрын
There's a couple ways to do this in the base game. Manually controlling your transport rover is one of them. You can also automate your rover to pick up resources in one location and drop them off in another. When you click on your rover, you will see buttons in the upper right portion of the screen. One of those buttons allows you to set up a pick up and deliver route for the rover. You first click on the area you want the rover to pick up from and choose what resources it should take and then move over to the drop off point and click to designate that area. The rover will deliver these resources until it either runs out of resources to deliver or is commanded to do something else. The other option is to research the CO2 jet propulsion which unlocks the shuttle hub. Shuttles will automatically transport resources across the map. You must make sure that you have a storage area, such as the universal depot, in the desired location for the shuttles to deliver the resource to. You can click on each depot and adjust the amount of resources you want stored there at all times. Hope that helps.

Instead of building a dome as an oxygen bridge, you could build a station at the elevator and one at the mineral deposit. Then add a multi station to the dome. The monorail will be able to carry your extracted resources to the dome and you dont need to build the mine in range of the dome anymore. Just level the ground and you're good to go

I've never seen the Monorail. Is it a part of one of the expansions? It sounds like it would be awesome.

@@FailroadExpress It’s part of the newer content creator packs they’re beginning to add to the game, and it’s called Martian Express. Considering whether to pick it up in a sale (I already have the base game and Green Planet). I’d be interested in your take on B&B, because I’ve only ever heard bad things about it on the forums and on Reddit.

@FailroadExpress
@FailroadExpress Жыл бұрын
"Good." No. "Incredible." Yes. If you are in to city building games, Sci fi, and Mars then this game will check all those boxes for you. This is a city builder on Mars, in which your citizens can die horrible deaths due to your mismanagement. They can suffocate, starve or freeze, amongst other things. But if you keep an eye on your resources, manage your supplies well, and get lucky, then you can create a bustling utopia. There are several scenarios you can play as you build your Mars colony with varying difficulty levels and many other ways you can change up the way the game plays and difficulty as well. It's easy to sink hours into this game and you won't want to stop. The larger DLCs add a ton more to the game. I recommend playing the game by itself at least once and then, if you like, download some of the DLC to change it up even more. Terraforming Mars is extremely satisfying with Green Planet and mining asteroids is a new challenge with Above and Below. You can't go wrong.

300% vs 30% is why you spread your sensor towers out. Bad advice to cluster them, sorry.

This is true. No need to be sorry. but for a first time player, I figure they won’t want to take the time to do that. Let them focus on other elements of the game on their first play through.
