I came up against a similar problem when I wanted a finer spray on the Tacklife. Went through the same wasting and cleaning process. Finally realized I had installed a tip w/brass insert. The plastic needle will NOT work with the brass insert tip at all. Changed back to the plastic tips and sprayed a 10' tall by 36' long barn side in 11 minutes. I love the Tacklife tool. I've used siphon and gravity guns for years and when taking on the pole barn did not want to drag air lines. I still cannot figure out how to remove the plastic needle and put in a brass one.

Grest review, thanks was inclined towards Tacklife. My recent experience was with a wagner. I used a Wagner control painter to paint two coats on 900 sqft of fence. I kept the paint flowing smoothly by rinsing the cap/tip in warm water and also ensuring the breathing hole in the container kept clean. After the first coat I also washed the air filter which was sucking in the spray, used it only after drying it. I also taped a pre filter (sponge) like you see in some lawn mowers. After the second coat my filters were covered in paint. The sponge was washable but the filter in the machine was done. Unfortunately this filter is not available in Lowes or Homedepot only on the Wagner website. Cheap filter but expensive shipping! Btw I emailed Tacklife , they do not sell the filter. Save yourself trouble by buying a Wagner 570/590. They come with a spare air filter.

This sounds identical to what I am currently going through with my Tacklife gun. Used it for the first time a couple weeks ago and it worked great. Busted it out again today to spray a bench that I don't wanna hand-brush, and nothing. Re-checked paint viscosity, took it apart, checked for clogs... I may try what the gentleman said in another comment and use a different spray attachment. If that fails, I think it's going to go in the trash. Ugh Can't stand wasting time, but I feel better knowing I am not the only person experiencing a similar issue.

I as well do not like finishing/painting my projects. I love my HomeRight sprayer. It is basic, but it also is not very expensive at all and for me works great.

I just bought the upgraded Tack Life where the gun and turbine are separate. Has brass nozzles and needles. Sprayed one project worth of primer so far and it worked pretty well. We’ll see what happens when I go to spray the final paint coat. Had I seen this first, I probably would have opted for the homeright. It was my next choice.

Wagner has the same type of plastic diffuser on their sprayers. I have purchased several and they work well at first then stop working and or start spluttering badly after . I was told by Wagner to make sure all parts were tightened completely and that helped a couple times but not all.

I was close to buying the tacklife since it was cheap but I'm glad I watched this video.

I had mixed bag with tacklife products. I bought a mini compressor to inflate car tires works great paid itself by now in 2 years of use. I bought a jumpstarter that came dead on arrival. I have bought a next higher version of the tacklife sprayer where the motor is housed separate from the spray gun. I chose that one because I want to paint my fence and want a light setup rather than carrying weight on motor. This one does have brass needle and tip. Hoping for better results. Going to try out today with high viscous oil based stain so hoping i don't run into problems. Will post back my exp. Atleast from unboxing it looks solid

I thought the Tacklife was good based on reviews on amazon but when i bought it. It sprayed so poorly like it was spitting. i thinned paint and it ended up having clumps in the droplets and caused me to repaint extra 2 coats to cover the splatter paint job

I had the same problem and all I had to do was be sure that lid on top for adding paint to the tacklife wasn't screwed on tite. Once I tighten it the gun worked fine. Took a while to figure it out because I did all the same stuff with cleaning , etc. and lots of air was coming out but without that lid being tight the gun would not spray at all.

Did you check the dial on the trigger? That determines how much paint gets to the tip.

Interesting comments about working once then failing, i have owned countless sprayers over the years expensive and cheap. I haven’t had one fail on me yet, I wonder if are you cleaning out your sprayers completely? Anyways, just bought the homeright super finish and wow am I impressed, wanted something in between my conventional HVLP and airless to spray latex out if can. I have used this thing about 4 times and working like a champ! Leaves a fantastic finish and will be spraying my outdoor chairs and bathroom vanity real soon.

Did you pull the small needle like spray tip out of the Tacklife? It just looked like you were trying to wipe it off. A tool to pull it out is included but it is super hard to get it out.

I I just purchased a HomeRight sprayer and it rocks ! It did a wonderful job on staining the cedar decking and railing components before building the deck . Used a oil based stain from Cabot . It was efficient and was surprised on how far the one cup would go before refilling . As for your test with the TackLife something must have happen after using it the first time . I bought a $250 Graco that I used twice and it won’t spray anymore.. the pump went out of it. I think I’m going to just pick up a homeright

It’s critically important to pour into the jar through a filter. This gets rid of clumps that are completely invisible to you.

Stinks this didn't work out as planned, but definitely great to go on and show failures. Never know what someone might learn from it!

i had a similar problem with homeright. however, I took that sucker apart and learned where my paint clogs were, bought the paint cleaning bristle things and now im a paint spraying fool!!!

Which homeright sprayer do u prefer is the higher end one worth it .

I think the problem is probably an air leak with the Tacklife sprayer. I have an old cheaper turbine hvlp that worked wonderfully when I used it last (couple of years ago). Now, it is a paperweight. The seals are made of essentially styrofoam with hese, the paint drying inside, I think, can easily compromise the seals, and it won't work without full vacuum pressure. I have noticed also that it is near impossible to get replacement seals.

Your experience with that tacklife sounds exactly like the one I had they must have paid people for all the positive reviews on Amazon that's all I got to say

Interesting. Have you ever sprayed with a more traditional HVLP gun attached to a compressor? I’ve wondered how these electric ones compare to that, but haven’t really looked into it much.

Man, don't call it a failure, from my point of view it was a success because you managed to show a real life example of a product faild and U'm sure that a lot of people will learn or get some usefull information fom here. I was deciding between a spray gun for my compressor and one of these but I was worries about the quality.

Those small pieces of wood need a high volume electric airbrush with a fan tip, perhaps best even coat with minimal overspray or a auto hvlp spray gun. important-the models that have a seperate air turbine don't get has hot as these compact units. from the get go a better model of these would actually have a gravity feed paint container or a paint hose to allow spraying at any angle with out causing possible paint spitting from these guns, which ruin your finish.

What camera are using? Video looks good, Wife is getting into KZfaq so just curious about the camera. And thanks for the comparison. I just bought the same taclife for $25 so hopefully the issue your having isn’t why it’s being sold so cheap but I’m sure that exactly why it is. Fingers crossed.

I just bought the same sgp15ac tacklife sprayer gun and did the same thing to me. I first tested it water and it won't spray at all, just air. I was going to try it with paint, but after seeing your video, i'll just return it. There's no point of keep messing with it since I've already spent more than 30 minutes trying ro figure out why it wasn't spraying. Thanks for sharing. I feel better now knowing I am not doing something wrong.

Not a fluke clearly!!!! Happened to stumble upon your video because I was looking for troubleshooting videos for my Tacklife. Same story as yours: Bought one a few months ago...it worked ok...tons of over spray even on low settings...took it out 2 months later prepped a job and well....nothing! Spent hrs trying to find any issues but there are none. Except for the sprayer is trash!!

Yeah, my 269 dollar Wagner did the same damn thing worked once and boom just spit after that. I just ordered a home right I hope it does better.

Who would have thought the paint gun(s) you got for free from the manufacturer and were brand new would win your "comparison".

How about filtering the paint first?

1. You should strain all paint first, which means you put the strainer funnel into the top hole. Makes pouring much easier. Or just use a funnel. 2. The tacklife comes with a brass combo for fine straying. 3. RTFM.

I have the feeling the ball valve is clogged. Open the cup, next to the paint suction straw , you’ll see another tube. It comes out also. Clean THAT out w the brush too. I’ll bet most people don’t yank EVERYTHING apart . YES THATS ANNOYING. IF THEY WROTE INSTRUCTIONS INSTEAD OF USING PICS IT WOULD SAVE US A TON OF FRUSTRATIONS

I found out the problem with the Tacklife you are using. The cleaning instructions are incomplete. You need to take the trigger assembly off and pull out the needle assembly. Mine was thick w/paint and it would work with BIG nozzles but not smaller ones. I took it complete apart, the trigger assemble and needle assembly to see why I could not change the needle. It was glued together with paint. The machine is amazing and the instruction are horrible. Good luck.

We’d all have less failures if tacklife actually WROTE the instruction manuals. Pictures are RIDICULOUS. I just broke out the tack life sprayer (the OTHER TYPE, not the one you show here ) I bought new on eBay months ago. Guess what? The gun came pre assembled. And I couldn’t remove the needle using the plastic key. After COMPLETELY disassembling the gun.. I realized that it was defective. The plastic base of the brass needle was stuck, and greasy in its housing. And NO AMOUNT of twisting, yanking , or soaking was gonna release it. So I broke out my old harbor freight cheapie HVLP. Thank god I wasn’t spraying cabinets!! I was spraying pool decking with lacquer. BUT I WAS STILL PISSED. I’m still hoping “ the orange sprayer “ will spray . BuT SADLY, I think it’s just TRASH. AND TOO LATE TO RETURN

very biased review I thought. although the homeright sprayed really well the tacklife didn't get much of a look in. was to obvious. that you had some sort of a reasone to favour the Homeright product

Wow, my HomeRight sprayer will arrive from Amazon tomorrow. All the reviews I see on it says it performs above average for the price. From the title I was sweating bullets.

I don't get why people talk about painting products/tools when they are not painter's. They are going to confused people that want to really learn about this sprayers. I don't think you guys should talk about things that you have no idea how they work, but that's only my opinion.

I feel very disappoint of the home right finish max extra. I used the first time to paint my fence. It worked well. The second time, It was working until suddenly stops and necer worked again. I Think it is a motor problem. I paid 106 dollars w/ taxes for this piece of garbage. It is a bad product and overpriced for a disposable product. I was unable to put a bad review. Amazon blocked my comment.
