Fake 3D Calendar Animation & Creation | After Effects Tutorial

In this After Effects Tutorial, I'll show you how to create and animate a fake 3D calendar.

We’ll quickly create the calendar with just a few shapes, then rip these papers off, using standard effects only.

Thanks very much! So happy you like it! Unfortunately I don't have an answer to your question, as I've never used an index expression. I think for me personally it would be easier and quicker to duplicate the pre-comp, change the text and replace it. 😬

This is so nice and really what I needed :) Thank you! Just in the end, I just dont get those animation "handles", ou know, when you started animating the 3D layer? Its just a straight line, with no handles to control :( Do you know anything?

You use the long calendar comp and expand it. You duplicate the precomps, change the dates and add them to the main comp.

It consists of two solids with gradient ramps. One in the background and one in the foreground. The calendar stands on the upper edge of the solid.

How do you continue the pattern? I got the first page turn, what is the easiest way to get the second page turn etc?

You add the second page below the one you turn, then turn the second one, which reveals the third one, and so on.

@@betterman7059 Create a few more page comps with different dates. You could duplicate the precomp with the animated page in the timeline, reuse the animation and then replace it with a new precomp.

It’s the same as with a 2D layer. To see the motion path in the z direction you can change the camera perspective to top for example. The drop down menu for the camera perspectives is below the comp window.

The thing is, it takes a lot of time and effort to come up with these animations and to make the videos. In this time I don't make any money with client projects. So I need to make at least a little bit of money from KZfaq to be able to continue this. And all my tutorials are doable without having to download assets or files. So I would recommend to invest the time and recreate it from scratch. You'll learn so much more than just using the already animated file;-)
