Thanks for the information I've purchased a few Leupold Scopes in my 53 years and I never thought that one might be a Fake. I'm dumbfounded by this

And yes some Leupold will have the "X" on the power markings. Depending on the model and when it was made.

Surprisingly, Walmart has been big in the past on selling fake Vortex and Holosuns. I visited the Cabela's in Lacey Washington in 2022 for a fishing trip with a family friend of my aunt. They had 2 back to back sales of fake optics, one of those I was there for and the guy buying was PISSED. Bought a Holosun with a hyphen between the holo and sun. Showed it around to everyone, same price but it was fake. That sucks. Over in Walmart in North Cali, a box of fake Nightforce was intercepted by the sales team. There was something going on that I think was a bit fishy there. Hmm, both of these were on the news. That one was a few years ago though. 2018? 2019

Verified with Leupold, mine has the QR code on the left.

I have a freedom 3-9x33 with white lettering on the gold band. It was bought from Leupold and just repaired by Leupold, so it is not a fake.

Not true!!! I have a vari x from 1993 That has power markings with an X has white lettering, and a brassy ring. It is verified as authentic by Leupold at Beaverton Oregon.

Yes!!! Many of the older vari x have the power lettering with the x for each number step...validated by Leupold

I also heard you can twist screw off objective lens area with fake ones, expose crosshair and obviously no gas sealed in

They started it over 40 years ago, outsourcing our free enterprise production to communism in china. Our federal government has been catering to communism in china since the late 40's that I know of. In fact, that is when we helped created communism in china. We armed the communists to beat the freedom loving nationalists during their civil war. McCarthy was wrong, about how much communism was in Washington. He was way low.

No the real test is customer service down the line and theft of a manufacturer’s brand name and the assurance that name implies. Apparently for some this is college level knowledge.

There is a difference! The scope I had that was fake was not near as good of glass so wasn’t near as bright inside when looking out at objects! The best thing is call Leupold to verify before you buy it or buy from a big box store new that was you have some recourse! I have owned several hundred Leupold scopes over the last 60+ years and only came across one and it came in a gun I bought used! I am also a gun collector so that’s not very many but they are out there so be warned!

Yeah I got a fake Leopold 4 1/2 to 14 by 40 it's not a very good scope I don't like it I got a bad review on mine spent over $1,000 and ate it what happened to the quality control of Leopold none of China crap
