Please sunrise daily, when ever you're discussing issues like this, let him Mr. Falana be in your studio live. Am a graduate of Sociology and I just learned something very important in terms of development, which happens to be one of my major course in school "Sociology of Development"

This is not the pain of subsidy removal. It’s the raw pain of stealing funds without any reasonable and palpable social program to help the ordinary people like us.

We don't need palliatives like sharing money; it is not sustainable. For example, the 200 billion naira allocated for palliatives (money sharing) could be used to improve the agricultural sector and increase farm produce throughput.

Every country has one subsidy or another they offer to their citizenry. In Nigeria situation, Fuel subsidy is a palliative as Oil producing country, which every citizens are entirely entitled and can not be removed.
@richard112360
@richard112360 5 ай бұрын
Nigeria's oil subsidy was a subsidy for the whole of the West African region. The monies gained went into the pockets of a few well connected individuals. Nigerian legislators greediness is why the country is broke.
@BabawaleOluokun
@BabawaleOluokun 5 ай бұрын
@@richard112360 Any sane government would have plugged all the "loopholes" where Nigerian subsidized fuel is smuggled to other West African countries. The smuggled fuel has the backing of highly placed people in Govt, so why not deal with those people and not the masses of Nigeria. The refineries that would have stopped the importation of transportation fuels is dutifully being sabotaged by the Govt itself, because they also profit from the subsidy scam. That has to stop in the interest of the masses and the nation.

It is not the fault of the people of Nigeria that some people are using sharp practices to access proceeds from subsidy payments. It is a no brainer that it is the job of the government to fish out who these criminals are and make them pay for their crimes. Nigeria is an oil producing nation. For God's sake, we're not meant to be in this poor state.

Since you must pay import duty on your goods so the government must have a fair idea of how much you bought your goods before giving you a valuation to pay as duty. If they really want to know the actual price from factory, that is very easy because they can contact the factory directly or compare your price with other importers within your country or outside of your country.

You said Nigeria is not a capitalist economy, I am not sure about that. Simple question, what reasonable foreign investor will want to invest in a country where the Government tell them how much to sell their services and not the market forces. You are only a lawyer and not an economist so stick to your trade. If Government start dictating prices for business owners, no business will want to operate in Nigeria. Yes, they can go ahead to reduce the levies but you and I know that this Government goal is only to increase taxation and generate more revenue at the expense of the people. Tackle an issue from the root and not the surface. We all kept quiet while the mandate of the people were stolen and now you want to demonstrate that you care and is outspoken. You wanted your tribal man there, so enjoy him.

The security measures employed by the security agencies are not up to date with the current situation on ground. 1. Firstly we need to secure the territorial boundaries of the country, that will reduce the importation of arms and ammunition into the country. 2. The security agencies should work together in the Northern region and comb all areas known to be the headquarters of the terrorist and bandits constantly without stop for a period of six months deployment for 4years let us see if the security issues will not improve. 3. Economical development in both agricultural and Human Resources that will improve the life of Nigerians, engage the youths in economic policies and I promise the crisis in the country will die a natural death. All our revenue should be controlled by the federal Government through the CBN and constantly be audited by an independent body time to time that’s the only way accountability can be achieved please. Our economic team which is been managed by the vp of Nigeria should be reviewed to a competent individual not the vice president, does shittima know anything about economic management please that’s just too much for him brain. Please the government should apply these 3 idea strategies and Nigeria will grow for the betterment of all please listen to the people abeg.

Inflation is not a national problem. It's a worldwide problem. A 20lbs of pando yam bought for $37.99 6 months ago is now $82.99. China economy crashed, U.k is going through the same thing, and Canada is not stable. The problem is not inflation. The inability of Nigeria government to balance or fix inflation is the problem.

Looks like Mr Falana just always like to do stuff to be in the news...what is he doing to make a difference in terms of policies and regulations? If he focuses on national law guarding landlord-tenancy...it will help housing, farmers class action lawsuit will help farmers return to farms...all these forced setting of prices...is like treating the injury and not the symptoms.
