This was a tearjerker but I have to give Melissa credit, she loved Joseph enough to give him up and she knew he'd be better off with Cole than at Falcon Crest.

I always thought it was Melissa's own fault that she had to give up Joseph. She was greedy and realized too late the price to get her hands on Falcon Crest was too high. I've always loved Falcon Crest. The acting, the writing and the atmosphere were just great!

Season 3 was the last great season for FC - a continuum of the preceding best seasons of the entire run of the show. Complex gothic family drama where everyone was entangled with one another through fascinating dynamics. Then the show in season 4 just kind of became formulaic and eventually descended into campiness. At least they knew how to make fun of themselves, unlike DYNASTY.

Even when Cole looked at Melissa he still had "feelings" for her. Chase was so disgusted with what Melissa did but for lying about Joseph's Paternity from The Beginning.

This series DVD set is long overdue! I wish that the studio would release a complete series DVD set Dallas and dynasty have DVDs why not the legendary falcon crest?

I know in his own way Chase is very proud of Cole. Cole can step up and take care of Joseph the way Chase's Father Jason wasn't able to take care of him.

I'd forgotten this storyline - got me a bit misty here. Heartbreaking.

I just realized that Cole in his own way came a Long Way. In the early days it was just Jeans/Shirts/T-Shirts and he wasn't as fashion conscious as Lance was. You see a Young Man who is following in his Father's Footsteps as an up an Coming Vitner. Remember a couple of years ago Angela sang his Praises at Richard's Wine & Cheese Party Opening which got Lance very upset, angry & jealous.

The one positive thing that came out of this was that both Cole & Joseph are financially secure. Remember Jacqueline Perreault left One Million Dollars each to Cole & Vicki and she also put in a Codicil that stated that Joseph would inherit One Million Dollars under the circumstance that he leaves Falcon Crest and acknowledges Cole Gioberti as his Father. Joseph represents The Sixth Generation Of Falcon Crest. Giuseppe who begat Jasper who begat Jason who begat Chase who begat Cole who begat Joseph.

I think that Angela did this to alleviate any guilt she had with what happened with Julia ending up in Prison. Maybe she felt that Joseph's life would be ruined like Emma's, and even Lance's.

Also in her own way Melissa had hit "Rock Bottom". She had no Family, her Father's Estate was in arrears, he owed and borrowed heavily from The Bank, also Angela should remember that she dangled her Will in front of Lance like a Starving Dog. She wrote him and out of the Will so many times it was disgusting.

This played well in terms of story, because it was a natural development in the ongoing war for Falcon Crest, in the evolution of Melissa's character as a serious contender for the top seat, something that had been building since she married into the family and was initiated by the Giobertis into playing their game their way. The dynamics of family relationships during the first three seasons were brilliantly complex ... the third season was the last great one in terms of real character-driven story, rich in conflict and tragedy for the first three years of this show. Then the show started to adopt the more traditional soap formula that put plot before quality, and the producers veered towards the more aesthetic superficiality of the more top-rated DYNASTY. After this very pivotal turning point in an ongoing saga, the Melissa-as-Angela's-true successor was conveniently dropped - until Melissa's last story arc as Falcon Crest's real owner in a very silly plot-derived twist. Btw, Ana-Alicia was one of the best actresses of the prime-time soaps ... she doesn't get the credit she deserves.

Also keep in mind that from the beginning that she and Carlo came on the show, Carlo was obsessed with Falcon Crest that's why he wanted the Marriage between her and Lance as much as Angela. She felt owning it she would be honoring the memory of her Father. He was very abusive remember when he slapped her and screamed at her to get into the House after she spent the afternoon with Cole.

Melissa is one of my favorites on the show but she was stupid there was no way in hell Angela was going to give her Falcon crest

Poor Melissa My @ss! When she got pregnant she "Knew" it was Cole's but she tried to pass it off as Lance's. She got on Lance's Last Nerve and even when Cole was Married to Linda Caproni, Melissa kept coming between them. Remember how she manipulated Cole into staying in Town when they went to Italy to "bury" Julia. She almost tried to seduce him.

Ana was the ONLY Reason i watch that show ; sad

wait... I've never seen this show. She gave up her child for a share of a vineyard? Wow.

Unfortunately I've not saved the credits on some of the postings, but thought they were definately still worth posting :)
