Thank you Steve! I'm studying for my apprentice exam currently. Going to go tag along with some falconers this season. Then next year plan to get my mews and everything together so I can trap my first hawk!

Great skill with training those birds. I like part where falcon jumps to ungarnished glove taking quarry with it. Good job fine sir.

Thoroughly enjoyed your presentation in this video. I've been getting into watching falconry videos recently since a good friend of mine has begun working with a falconer in San Diego. Really enjoy learning peoples different approaches and purposes, the different species of birds, techniques, and the obvious aspect of seeing the birds doing their thing. I'm curious about the species of bird you're working with.

Awesome video. Can you please tell us why you choose to fly and keep the birds that you do. Gyr tiercels?
@stevesomach3 жыл бұрын
I like the gyr/peregrine tiercels they are as large as a female peregrine with hybrid vigor! I like their energy and wing beat.

@@stevesomach ok, so that's why. Hood to know. Thank you. Are the falcons in the house of grouse video the same.

What do you do for a living. I’m a pre-apprentice into falconry and it seems really expensive
@NMFalconry3 жыл бұрын
It can be very inexpensive depending on what kind of bird you get and how you house it. Kestrels can be kept on a small table indoors and don't require telemetry equipment.

Hi Steve, noticed you don't look directly to bird while eating... is that for any particular reason?

No - Thanks!

@@stevesomach Hi again Steve... like with many other videos on your channel i'm re-watching this one in particular and one thing came to my mind. Could you do a video around food and food management... like what type of food... if you buy it freezzed or alive how to chop, which parts you discard, how much less food you give a bird for lowering its weight? Things like that. Thanks again.
