Fly fishing on The Little Red River in the Fall can be hit or miss depending on the weather and the water conditions. I got lucky with the temps but not so much with the water, still had a good day, and landed a few fish.

Happy to show off the Little Red, I call it my home waters and put it up against any river in the country. My parents have lived in the area for the last 25 plus years and wouldn’t live any place else. Thanks for watching and the comment.

Great video! I'm heading over to fish the Little Red in a week and a half. Hopefully the generating schedules will allow us to get some wading in. You can find a fish friendly net at most sporting goods stores or Amazon for around $30. Old style nets take the slime off of the fish. The trout may swim off looking fine and healthy, but it can actually die days later from a bad net, somebody wearing gloves, or dry hands.

I'm coming up next week for a few days to go fishing can you do a video on how to read a water generation schedule? That would be really helpful.

I'm pretty sure I covered that in this video (link below) but unfortunately the schedule is just a rough idea of what they may do. In this state, Southwest Power Pool controls the water and they will sometimes say one thing on the App or Web and do another. You're in luck right now because the lake is low so unless we get a ton of rain, generation will be at a minimum if at all. They only released water for about three hours yesterday so you could have fished all day really by moving downriver and then back up after they stopped. See if that video helps and let me know if you have any more questions. You can also stop in at Ozark Angler when you get up there those old guys will shoot you straight. I was fishing yesterday in my boat at swing bridge! My son pulled in 3 of them and 2 were some big rainbows were big at 15” and 1 stocker. He just turned 3 and is loving it! I set the hook and let him have it. Love the river would live on it if I could.

@@ArkansasFishingVideos I like that more tackles boxes and less Xboxes. I’m looking forward to this weekend when I can get back out on the boat boat with him again. He helped me rebuild it from the aluminum frame up. Well as much as a 2 year old can mostly running off with everything but he did help drill holes, shooting rivits, impact bolts, grab everything just out of reach. Even pack wheel bearing grease which was funny how far grease can go.

@@ArkansasFishingVideos Excellent......More options for wading is always appreciated. If you ever run out of ideas for a video, doing one to explain just how to read that darned water flow and release charts off the app would certainly be appreciated by an old fart like me.

I will definitely add that video idea to the list, but I will be the first to admit I'm not a hundred percent sure how to read it myself..lol. The Corp and Southwest Power Pool pretty much do what they want and what they release in the app is not always what they do to the letter.

I finally got to fish the little red the week of Thanksgiving for the first time and first time fly fishing also my in laws live about 5 minutes from swing bridge and now I'm absolutely addicted to fly fishing and trout it's tough to find trout on the gulf coast of Texas and have found a lot of saltwater fly fishing addicting too and man I can't wait to get back up the country to go fishin again tight lines from the coast

@@ArkansasFishingVideos absolutely I'm already addicted I left my rod at my in laws so I have one there and buying another one here for the saltwater I'll let you know next time I'm comin to town maybe we can met up and do some fishing an any time you wanna saltwater fish I live 8 minutes from the coast c'mon down
