Linda, don’t give up your early morning stroll in your pj’sThat’s should be your private time. Nothing replaces that quite time to ourselves. I go out early in my gown or my pj’s just to listen to the early sounds.

I go out in my pjs to feed and water the birds. When I first retired I took my coffee and book to the deck every morning and sometimes it was hours before I went in and got dressed. Once my neighbors behind me retired I'm not comfortable walking around the yard to check the flower beds but my thought is, if you don't like the way I look, don't look at me.🥴

I go out in my backyard every morning with my cup of joe ( in my pj’s)and peruse the estate as I like to say. I walk thru the backyard and look at my treasures that I have grown. I sit with coffee listening to the birdies and the quiet sounds of morning. Best time of the day. Once I have ample caffeine, I do pull weeds or whatever I need to do. This is my meditation time. I do find such joy in simple things as I get a wee bit more seasoned. I’m off to buy more candles today! Bestest to you.🌸

Therapist here! Might I suggest trying to find the middle ground? Allow yourself pajama time for coffee or meditation.. but, maybe ‘gardening’ requires day clothing. Consider that by doing so you could focus on the beauty and peacefulness of the wonderful space you have created. ❤️ I appreciate you sharing the creation with all of us!

Sorry Linda, but Sunday is a PJ tea in the garden morning, and it's great to chill and relax and just enjoy looking at the garden. As you know if you are dressed you start gardening straight away, the tea goes cold and the luxury of being a sloth has gone. A happy PJ gardener 🧑‍🌾😁☕

The easy way to know how long to initially burn a candle the first time is to burn it until you have reached the sides of the candle with the wet wax-it prevents the candle from getting a deep well that eventually prevents it from burning. Also, you can use a piece of spaghetti in a pinch to light something that is in a deep container.

I usually just trim to about 1/4”-you can usually tell if is too long when you light it, it will smoke and the flame will “wobble”. Trimming it will make it burn smokeless and steady.@@jetv1471

Linda, I can relate to the overtiredness and becoming a martyr. I’m trying not to let myself work in the garden to that point anymore. Having a chronic pain problem I’ve learned that overdoing it for one day puts me out for several days after. So now I try to do a little often. I’m not a public person though so will not give up gardening in my pyjamas. 😅 Feels like freedom to me. 🤗

Today I decorated my home for Fall. Now that’s a big day for me at 75 yrs. I was a owner of a upper end retail store,for many years,and was a pretty good visual merchandiser. So,when I say I decorated for Fall,I still do things,like I would have in my store( very elaborate). But,not once did I think of getting out of my Pajamas 🤣 I get so much done in PJ’s. I know I was outside,at least a couple of times,checking my Fall newly planted containers,and yes,deadheaded my way back into the house to finish decorating 😂 So yes I totally understand,the urge to wander the yard,each day.

Another way to help a candle to stick in a holder that may be too big or a bit wonky, is to light the candle and while holding it, let some of its melted wax drip inside the candle holder and then immediately press the base of the candle into the melted wax and hold it there a few moments to dry. The candle will usually stick pretty well.

I buy my pajamas with gardening in mind!!!! I’m single so puttering around the yard can be a top priority. After watching me unravel an old grapevine wreath, then use the vine to bulk up a new wisteria, my son informed me that I have…”gardening issues.” Admittedly, I have been known to turn on the porch and yard lights when I’m on a crack of dawn or late night roll, so maybe he’s right. Some may say that gardening is my insanity; I say it’s my SANITY. Heaven on earth!

Another thing that works well when you’re extinguishing candles is to use something metal to push/dunk the flame into the molten wax. It puts out the flame immediately and there is never any residual smoke like there often is if you snuff or blow it out.

I particularly appreciate this subtle distinction between early autumn, arriving next week with the Autumnal Equinox, and deeper into the season. It's a gentle transition between summer and...which I appreciate. A nice antidote to Christmas arriving in the stores in August, and more reflective of nature's own calendar. You are “spot on” about going outside in PJ’s and then not wanting to come back inside! Yesterday I made myself come inside after 7 hours! There were so many little things needing attention and so much more fun than getting dressed for my day 🌳. The good thing is that my backyard has three sides that are private.

Linda, I keep a utilitarian candle that I will light and drip wax from it into whatever holder that I need to secure the candle into. Works great.

Hi Linda: Just finished watching your Signature Style Saturday...it's so my favorite. I live in a small apt. in a small city in northern Wisconsin so I don't garden, but have a lot of plants indoors and decorate 95 percent thrifted finds, cottage core, grandma core. Fall is my favorite season of all. Amber glass, and...candles. I don't burn them in the summer, maybe on a rainy day. I haven't commented before, but thought I'd share my "candle" story. My mom used to tell stories of hobo's who would ride the railroad cars behind our farm. She had a reputation of feeding anyone who was hungry and send them on their way. That was 60ish years ago. We had bad winters when I was a child growing up, very cold and TONS of snow, often snowed in until the milk truck came and plowed us out. All that to say, when it started getting colder and darker earlier, she would put a candle in the den and living room window in the evening as a sign for anyone who had car trouble, stranded, would see it as a welcome to come to our home for safety. I've changed it for my life now as I'm up early in the morning while it's still dark...after time change. It's my Bible reading and praying time with Jesus. I light 2 tapers in my windows every morning as a symbol of welcome and warmth, never knowing if anyone would "see" it that way, but I do. It's also a symbol for me from Exodus 30:7&8 to use it to recognize the Presence of God in my home, that others may see His Light. And I also have September blue in my bedroom...love it. Take care. This is me literally every morning. I get so excited to see my plants every morning and how they’re all doing. They’re like my little babies. I’ve given up on what my neighbors think. As long as my plants are thriving and coffee cup stays full. Lol. Maybe one day I’ll be able to really “adult” and start my day beforeeeee walking out to the garden. ❤🌸🌻🌱🪻🫛🌱

Sorry if you said it and I missed it, but for me, the number one candle safety tip is to be absolutely certain they are away from any place my cats can get…and then NEVER leave them burning unattended. Not only are cats athletic and inquisitive, but their fluffy tails are a tragedy waiting to happen.

Mrs. Linda you do what you like because you worked hard through the years and if you like to go out into the backyard or in any outside area in your home, you should. Forgive me please, but I don’t think you should apologize to anyone because you’re in your home site. So do it whenever you feel like wearing it. But if you live in a neighborhood where there is no privileges to be at home with whichever you want to wear outside than I don’t know where is the freedom. Mrs. Linda blue is the “in” color for me this fall and wherever I see a sweater that I can purchase, I will buy it. Blessings.

As a blue and white collector for years... it makes me happy to see how you have embraced it in the new cottage. It looks so elegant and cozy in the parlor . I love candles and have at least 2 going at all times. I light one before I even start the coffee in the morning. I do love your barley twist candle holders on the mantle. I have so many styles, but my favorite is the glow in amber glass holders. And I love that the saying that candle light attracts angels. I choose to believe it. Like your collection of blue votives on the tray.... I have a collection of amber ones. All different but cohesive. The glow is incredible. I , like your Mom have a candle closet/ armoire. You can never have too many candles, or candle holders, as far as I am concerned.

Such a fun and varied video! For emergency purposes , I always have on hand several white pillar candles. When lit they emit lots of light during electricity outages and they last a long time.I put them on a small plate to protect the tabletop, when needed I clump them together for maximum brightness.

I am 74. I love being in the garden first light. My best friend had to have hars words with herself because she wanted to get out at 3 a.m. Golden agers frequently get up around 3ish. Don't stop. After all, it's your garden, you work killer hours to have it. Its so quiet and still and private at 6-7 a.m.. 15:05

Thank you for sharing your life tips they were so helpful. I adore lightening my candles now it is getting darker earlier these days. The room takes on a comforting, warming glow. I've been known to water the front in my jammies and robe😊. Admittedly, the lengthy jammie gardening I do in my backyard. Either way you choose, I'm sure you look marvelous!

Yes, yes! But three days a week I'm gone from the house at 6:30am. So the other days I grab my morning beverage and go sit in my patio chairs and enjoy creation, God's and mine. I don't or won't apologize. I just enjoy the peace and quiet. I will do alittle gardening before going upstairs to clean up. That charges my day.

Linda, I am a pj gardener too! I make my morning coffee, take a cup outside, walk around to check out my plants, and lean down to pull weeds along my stroll. 💖💖💖
