Gen sb well narrated. Another commission was needed to know the " Facts n Reasons of separation of East Pakistan" Sh Mujib was allowed to contest elections on his 6 points. Elctns held in Dec1970 , immediately after notifctn of returned MNAs , asmbly session shud hv been summoned. But aftr much delay it was called in early March. Then started the real game plane. A leader frm W.Pak who had only 82 seats in NA started pressurising n threatening Yaya khan to postpone the session nd demanded Mujib, whose seats in NA were double than his , to had a power sharing agreement wid him ?? . A general poltcl consensus was definitely appreciable for framing new constitution , but majority cudnt be denied to come in power. What were the reasons or compulsions of yahya to postpone NA session, without fixing a new date ? Didn't he know what wud be it's consequences ? If Bhutto or any other W.Pak leader had been in the position of Mujib , what wud hv been his reaction in such situation ? What a little bit I hv studied, it was a well thought plan of w.pak bureaucracy, industrialists, capitalists, politcians to get rid of Bengalis . They all hate them. Poltcl leadership of both wings lacked vision, courage nd sencerety , so they cudnt come to a solution by dialogue. Hence military was made Scapegoat ?? Even a lay man knew that 2 ,3 divs Pak army was miserably insufficient to defend all its border wid India nd for internal security as well. Air force was non existent /made ineffective .It was totally land lock territory. The Bengalis had revolted , Indian trained n backed Mukti Bahni was in action through out the E. Pak. Our air corridor to E.Pak over India had been blocked. So there was no chance to fight n win. Now Q is why our Pol leadership n ruluing janta cudnt apprehended this situation nd come to a solution nd settlement wid Bengalis ?. Why we failed to get support in UNSC and why we delayed n wasted time to get ceasrfire resolution ? And whatsoever the resolution was passed, why didn't we accept that nd preferred to surrender ??!!!!!

I as an Indian senior citizen find the General's argument that Indian soldiers fifhting besides the Mukhti Bahini killed the intellectuals appaling,unbelievable and ridiculous. The killings would have taken place much before the10th of Dec.1971. Will have to check other sources

THEY STARTED WITH general Jacob eastern commond at At that time. What his words were "LET ME SAY THE TRUTH. THE PAK ARMY WHERE EVER THEY FOUGHT .THEY FOUGHT VERY WELL .THEY ARE PROFESSIONAL BUT THERE WERE LOTS OF OTHER REASONS AND FACTORS FOR THEIR DEFEAT" after listening that l exclaimed. Let them do programme For hours. The "TRUTH IS CLEAR".

Sir the other day I happened to see a DW report on northern Pakistan part occupied by India in 1971 war, my feeling is this is failure on 2 fronts, political and military why please let me explain,in 1965 reportedly large area of occupied Kashmir was liberated but same was handed back on political table, in 1971 as reported by DW large part of Pakistani Kashmir was lost to India and it was not solved on 1965 rules and on political table too it was conceded to India, common denominator of this episode is only one person who was present on both events.what is your take on this, and were we so poorly organized in 1971 that we have nothing to show compared to 1965

General SB, agreed that Hamood-ur-Rehman commission had a limited scope with bias towards the military. But it's just one side of the picture. The truth is that politicians (Bhutto, Mujeeb), Generals, civil administration, they all are responsible for Dhaka fall. It didn't happen overnight and there's a history of injustice and deprivation of equal chances to people of East Pakistan that lead to this tragedy. Army should start holding their leaders accountable for their wrongdoing. For instance, what happened to General Durrani after he wrote that controversial book?

With all due respect, the commission report did interview politicians, generals, and top profile people who were involved in the debacle of East Pakistan. Whereas, the military collapse was not the only reason for the defeat, however, it did play a major role because of the low morals of some top generals at the time. Politicians are equally to blame.
