Ah, Fall...the seasons are definitely changing on the farm! We have started feeding some hay, put in more concrete, built a dutch door for the barn, and got some grass growing on the cheese cave. Thanks so much for visiting, hope you are all doing well were you are.

Another productive year! It must very rewarding looking back on everything you have gotten done in such a relatively short amount of time on your farm. I know how much I enjoy looking back and the before and afters on our place. Waiting on you to get that door cut in on the "cave".

Great update. Looks like you're all in good shape for the coming weather conditions Cheese cave looks ready to fill. Any wheels in it yet? Very neat job of building that dutch door. Expanding the pad at the rear of barn was a great move. Keep up the great improvements. Stay well.

Like the door. My uncles dairy barn back in the 60's had 4 of those in their stanchion barn. Would you consider painting white in the grooves to contrast it more from the walls. When is ETA for cheese going into the Cave?
@vnthomas16
@vnthomas16 Жыл бұрын
No, no white paint in the grooves. Just getting it painted in a timely manner was a victory in itself! Haha! We’ll be making cheese towards the end of the month, so we’ll need the cave ready by then. Thanks for watching!

Do you have to buy hay and alfalfa to feed the cows or does what you cut on your own property see you through the late fall and winter ?
@vnthomas16
@vnthomas16 Жыл бұрын
Most of our feed is put up from our own farm, but we usually buy in at least a small amount of alfalfa. Beside importing feed, we’re also importing nutrients that way. Thanks for watching!

Our pasteurizer is from Northwestern Tool/Jaybee Precision in Ohio. The Surge stalls are about 8’ long and 33” wide at the widest point. They’re 5’3” tall.

did you ever get your pipeline installed yet or are you still milking with the bucket and are going to use 2 units instead of 1and where do you get your nupluse claws from
@vnthomas16
@vnthomas16 Жыл бұрын
The pipeline installation has been a slow process… We don’t really need it yet, so we work on it as time and funds allow. We’ll definitely want it ready before next season though. The pipeline will have two units, one for each stall that we have now. We’re not adding any stalls. We get all our milking equipment and supplies through our local GEA dealer. Even if it’s not GEA, they can get it. Thanks for watching!
