I got to know the late Nelsaan Ellis (actor who played Bobby Byrd in the Get On Up movie) a year or two before he passed away. ID GET HIM STARTED BY SINGING…… “Get UP!!……” and he’d start dancing and singing in character……”GET OOOOON UP!” (Sex Machine!!) Rest In Peace N.E.❤️🙏🏼

Bobby Rush... One of the last blues guys from an era gone. Groomed by the originals... worked along side the originals... Over 80. Just an awesome guy.

No. That would only be true if parents don't show their kids any movies. That's the beauty of film. It will always be accessible and relevant so long as we don't act like morons and keep it from them.

Based on the volume of laughs. No doubt they have access to those things but some just seem forgotten at times. I mean no offense, infact I hope our comments inspire them to seek out the James Brown & Caddyshack gems!

As a shuttle driver for the Capitol Innn Hotel in Hapeville, Ga. very near to the Atlanta airport in1978, I picked up James Brown's band from the airport with a fuck-ton of luggage. Loaded it all up, unloaded it and carried it into their room. They tipped me $5. Couldn't have been because I was white, right?

Well that was a long time ago. Also, many black performers weren’t paid well, they were usually paid less than their white counterparts, thanks to racism. Also thanks to racism, it wasn’t unusual for businesses to charge blacks more for the same goods/services, they sometimes did that because they didn’t want to do business with blacks.
