Fallout 4 Lazy Man's Legendary farm

In today's video ill show how i built a simple legendary farm, we will see what items that will be needed and how many recourses that i will take to build 20 gunner cages and hopefully we will build this farm under the build cap for the settlement.

The ideal location has to be v88, if you've got the DLC. It comes with a 150 power generator, tons of concrete, and if you DO NOT EVER break down the barricades for the back doors then all enemies attack through the narrow front entrance which is easily defended. That also makes it easy to pick up the legendary items. You don't even have to bury anything.

I tried this, but unfortunately the cages can't be built in interiors. They don't even show up under the Cages menu at all when in 88. They do show up for building in my other settlements, though, so it isn't a case of me just not having them unlocked.

If you're looking at ever doing this again, may I recommend using the Boston Airport and forcing the gunners flood out toward the Brotherhood. That way you can also farm gear and Brotherhood Power Armor from the guards there who respawn. Sometimes you get Legendary Brotherhood guards too, and they help you kill the gunners for free! It's a win, win, win! Unless you love the brotherhood... then maybe it's not a win.

If you have Nuka World dlc, that's a perfect place to farm legendaries especially in survival mode. Almost every random encounter locations there have enemy instant respawn when you leave the area at some distant and come back. The legendary spawn chance will be 100% if you complete Open Season. While in Nuka Cade the level 5 prize can also spawn a legendary item, and you can save scumming here. Make a save before enter Nuka Cade and keep reloading the save for legendary you desire, but at least 40000 nuka ticket needed, with plasme weapon is the highest I think, at 42000 tickets. Never found Gauss rifle there tho or any dlc weapon, but for enemy at random encounter location, all weapon are available, except pipe weapon, maybe because I always started Nuka World at very high level.

Warwick might be a perfect area for this since all the enemies attack from one direction. You can even put the gunner cages and generators on the roof and make them unreachable.

You could also hook up a mortar to your siren to launch flares (i think this works) to call for minutemen

Cheap and Lazy, right up my alley. Good video, I honestly did not think about sinking the cages into the ground. Gonna start a new playthrough soon, wanna put a legendary farm on spectacle island.

@@NastyBonz3D I'm working on it, slowly. I got more elaborate with it than I had intended. I make caps with purified water farms, so need them to spit out more water so I can make more caps.

@@NastyBonz3D I made 25 cages. Now I'm out of caps, still need more building materials. Hopefully I will have enough water to cover costs of more shipments.

@@Caldara1 you may be doing this already but incase you are not, have at least one vender in the settlement, the three best are trade, armor and weapon, they have the most caps! then when you get attacked don't do any damage to the attackers (enemies) then you can loot all their items and sell it to the venders, helps get some of your caps back! If you do any damage to the enemies then the venders will only say thanks for the help and you cant access there stores, Tier 4 venders are the exception, they will sell most any time of the day or night!

I used to just make all my settlements produce a TON of water and food, and when I set up my defenses I had them connected to a switch and have it turned off so it would act like I had zero defense (idk if that’s actually how it worked, but I always thought it did) and then hope I’d get attacked more often. Then I’d fast travel and just flip the switch to destroy them lol. Didn’t work extremely well, but it was more of a background thing while I played the game normally. But I still have no clue if anything I did actually made me get attacked more often or not.

Pretty cool. Even if you dont always get legendary enemies, you will always get some loot. With gunners your gonna rack up those energy cells 👍

KZfaq didn't tell me you posted a new vid. Just stumbling into it now. Cheap and lazy could be my middle name. Vault 88 has a lot of nuclear material (100+) for people who have the Vault Tec DLC Looking at this I'm wondering if we could rug glitch the cages into each other to save on concrete foundations. We couldn't rug them 100% into each other to make them look like one cage because we still have to be able to select them individually for repair if we ever need to. I'm guessing we could still reduce their footprint by a large percentage though. I wish there was a perk that would highlight corpses. I'm terrible at finding them. Nice action sequence at the end.

Thanks Sheckie, That's a damn good idea, now it makes me want to do it all over again, lol.... i know it would work for sure and there should be no repair to be done to cages if the foundation is is over them good, so yea i think it would work great, So good to here from you, working on final preparations for weekly streams again, i hope i see you then will be awesome to catch up!!

@@NastyBonz3D If your settlement gets attacked and you don't personally show up to defend it can't the cages get damaged? I know generators can get hurt that way even if they are inside a foundation block. Looking forward to your streams!

But how do you make sure it attracts legendaries? And can you farm institute weapons?

Gunners have the highest legendary spawn rate, this is why i use gunner cages, The farther south you go the more chances to spawn legendry's, The best place to create a legendary farm is Jamaica plains...... i just use county crossing a lot when playing in survival, Now as far as farming for a certain weapon or armor like a institute weapon you would need to farm them from dungeons...

le sigh Ran into a resource bug and had to start all over. All my resources kept randomly breaking, and apparently gunner cages are a resource. I am gonna get this working. Bethesda bugginess, gotta love it. (not)

In 76 you get the plans from starting up the power plants like mass fusion, there are three that you can do it at,, in FO4 you have to have the forth rank of science before you can make them

@@wallythewalrus2964 Okay, but they don't have a higher chance for a legendary to spawn over say like raider cages do they? I think region has more to do with that, I'm thinking I need to build some of these farms in the South where I run into more legendaries just walking around.

@@asterlawaster hold pick up button (it's X if you in PS4) it will select all connected item including nearby item, so be careful or you might pickup your entire building.

That was very nice!, that was not built in one day...lol. i have a friend Ghost, that builds like that, he has a cyber punk city that was too crazy. he has since moved on and is now using the unreal engine to create his own worlds
