Note that the power is not running through the walls. There's an invisible halo that radiates from the switches and connectors which will power devices within that area. The more expensive (resource-wise) connections radiate a bigger halo. So, little blue fuse boxes may be temptingly cheap, but they will only power lights very close by. The power conduits cost a little more, but you'll need fewer to light up a large area. Likewise, the more expensive connectors will also allow a wire to run a bit farther. Btw, avoid TV's and juke boxes, because these currently can break your settlement, reducing the power and water to 0 when you're not there and sending happiness plummeting.

To explain your mystery about the lights being powered; I believe your theory of the conduits charging an area is correct - however I believe that small objects (ambient objects if you will,) such as the TV and lights, don't require an actual "unit" of power, only for it be around a power source. For example, see how there is no number next to the lightning bolt icon for those items? Yet for the construction lights and turrets the have a number?

Great vid, I'm still working on the "wi-fi" power, it's funny how somethings power right next to a power conduit and something 5 feet away won't power, it's like there are dead spots in the walls or something.. I don't sweat it though because to me it's AMAZING that Bethesda was able to add so many working parts in this already massive world.

There is an "area of effect"for illumination. Imagine an invisible bubble around the generator and conduits if you will. This is what powers lights etc and no it won't take any of the numbered power output from the generator. Ive just discovered the Local Leader perk which helps with sharing your junky resources between settlements.

Great video, thx. But if the conduit does the same thing than the pylon, you only need a pylon to raise a cable up high. It seemes to be a cosmetic issue since I have build a whole base with a lot of electric things only using conduits, which are working as distributors and as splits. And important for a generator-farm: You do not need to connect every generator to the next pylon/conduit - as you say @ 5:20 You can built a series connection by connecting all the generators together. And then one generator to the next distributor. This way you can save cable-material. Also interesting how the distribution via solid objects work. I first thought, you were wrong with the TV - and that it gets it energy direct from a conduit on the roof of the building which bears the wind-generator. But I think you may be right with the elements having contact and therefore are conducting energy. Also PhoenixDwn75 is right when saying you can energize unlimited objects which have no number on the electricity-icon. At least I tried a lot of lamps and stuff with one little generator and it worked till my test-building was shining as far as Diamond City.

You mentioned that the tv had power even though you were still carrying it around; I think that that is just a game function to show you that it would have power if you set it up there. I was playing around with power lines earlier trying to connect a house, and the lights went on before I connected the wire; so I moved back, and they turned off again.

What's the difference between "clean" power from the windmills and the standard generators? I haven't noticed one personally and size-wise it seems much more efficient to use the large generators (10 power) if they take up the same space as one windmill (3 power).

I have a question and I hope someone will help me. I used one of the standing house in Sanctuary as a "generator home" (I put every generators there) to make the town quiet. Now my question is, if i link the generators one to another, will they produce, for example, 15 energy when I link the last one to a pylon?

Are the lights always so glitchy? In the Castle I built a large generator and even when all the lights were on the industrial water purifier wouldn't work. And now none of the lights will turn on even when I see the green power icon above them.

The best way to power a three level home is to have the conduits and wires going around the walls on the second floor (on the inside of the house)...this should be enough to power that floor, the one above and the one below as the area of effect will be large enough to cover these floors.
@MrFatKat198 жыл бұрын
What about light switches? 1 lightswitch to control 1 conduit?
@PelTheSmell8 жыл бұрын
+Thurman Murman for switches, its easy if you imagine the power flowing from your generator and your electrical circuit as water in a pipe. If you have generator/switch/lights...in that order then all the lights that you place after the switch will be controlled by activating that switch. Imagine turning a tap off and on...it will stop the flow of power running and further. Hope this helps.

Damn gonna just play fallout for a couple hours to fix up my sanctuary lol. Thanks for the tips
@jasonlara3 жыл бұрын
2021. Just started playing this. As far as wall conduits go, do you need a wire bewtween each one? For example: You have a 100ft wall and want hanging lights along it's entirety. You have a generator with a wire to a wall conduit placed on the first wall tile. Hanging lights only light up for maybe 3 wall tiles. So you place another wall conduit. Does that second conduit need to be hard-wired to the first? Basically, how do you daisy-chain.

You actually get more power per relative square meter by using multiple small generators than with large generators. I always build a steel science center building in sanctuary for the Institute teleport, and have power station rooms constructed inside auxiliary towers. Using a two-story high one full floor section of space and an upper rack of wooden platforms separating the top and bottom wall section I was able to easily fit 12 (3 * 12 = 36 power) small generators in the space one large generator fit (only 10 power). For high powered setups well organized power stations utilizing multiple small generators in a series is the ideal approach.

Interesting place to put the main base. Why not near the bridge? Also are raiders able to cross the radioactive river and come from the back? My back defense is weak
@OfficialPSUtube8 жыл бұрын
+Gamer Hudson For me, this made sense because the existing weapon, armor, and workshop bench were already there. I liked the way that house's porch initially looked kinda like a garage, so I started putting up metal walls and it sorta evolved from there. Not sure about whether they can come from the back river. My defense is weak there too, but there's a lot of natural obstacles like bushes, trees, and houses. --Kyle

Can you wire multiple generators together and have the last wire connected to a single power line running running down the street, like an actual city? That would really help to clean things up.
@Thanson1994158 жыл бұрын
yep. Ex: If you used four small generators that provide 3 units of power each and connected all four onto a junction and sent one wire out, that one wire will have all 12 units of power provided by those four generators.
