I love how each fallout lore channels present lore. RadKing takes external sources and references in real life to rationalize and explain fallout concepts into real life concepts, as well as staying on a more modern general topic. Synonymous presents lore in terms of fallout lore and explains the lore as a neat and easily understandable presentation. Oxhorn presents episodes of lore and divides aspects of the game into separate episodes and deconstructs and digests them for the viewer to intake. There are of course other fallout lore channels, but I only really main these (ones listed above) three channels.

Thanks for this, I have never read the "Bible" though I have seen countless references to it. The more I discover about the original creators of Fallout, the more I Like them. They had an idea, they worked hard to make it a reality, and made a game I loved the moment i saw it. I wonder what we would have today if they had been allowed to continue?

Unfortunately, the bible gives a false impression that Black Isle had it all figured out. Keep in mind it wasn't written until after both games had been completed. There were many retcons between games, both in 2 and on the forums and they had retconned a bunch more info for both games on their forum site after 2 was released. The bible was written when they were "done" retconning. I say "done" because they(members of BL that joined Obsidian) retconned some more stuff in NV.

The most interesting part is how much isn’t said and you have to pick up on its written so well like super mutant sterility, the Geck, subconscious fear of others finding your home (mostly in 1, kind of subverted in 2 for gameplay but still present)

When I was 10 or 11 or so, my older brother gave me my first copies of Fallout 1 and 2, though I had played 2 a little already. I was obsessed with it for years and at some time between 11-12 I read and played everything I could find on Fallout, which included the Fallout Bible in it's entirety, Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel and even Van Buren, but that was before any of the restoration stuff, so VB was just like 2 locations and a guy with dialogue or something.

This is my favorite aspect of the games. I can only hope future gamess capture the larger aspects of the. The fact that a place like Bakersfield is in Fallout is hilarious to me because its already filled with ghouls in 2024! Hearing people possibly fled here makes some sense considering the mountains offer protection into the valley from fallout nearer to the coast, however, lots of oil in Bakersfield so it would obviously be a strategic target as well and could have a future Fallout title where we can see Necropolis in 3D. Moreover, it would be a perfect excuse to bring back that Dark Ambient sound-scape of the California wasteland.

Fantastic overview of the fallout bible, I read parts of it here and there years ago. In this format with added context, but low on tangents made it extremely digestible. I have a theory about FEV mutations in humans, and I'm sure I'm not the first to think of this. It relates to a documentary I watched on the black plague and genetic markers. Simplified it says that people that were immune to catching the black plague had a double copy of a genetic marker, and people who had a single copy of this genetic marker could catch it but had a high chance of survival. For people with without a double or single copy of this genetic marker catching the black plague was completely fatal. The Fallout "New Plague" probably was a FEV influenced version of a preexisting virus like the black plague. My theory is that people that can become ghouls had a single copy of the genetic marker that allowed them or their ancestors to catch but survive the new plague. Also people that serve becoming super mutants have a double copy of this genetic marker, meaning they or their ancestors never could catch the new plague thus the FEV influenced virus never altered their DNA leaving them a clean slate for pure FEV manipulation. (Edited for spelling mistakes)

Man here I was thinking that FEV turned you dumb or normal mutants if you had been exposed to radiation your entire life or not
@jessebates2884
@jessebates2884 2 жыл бұрын
I could be wrong... it only covers why super mutants are so rare, considering most people that get "dipped" dont actually result in a successful super mutant. My theory doesn't take into account the form/strain of FEV used to make super mutants seems by observation to attack and alter the X chromosome. There are no female super mutants to that case there are no male super mutants either. All super mutants probably have YY chromosomes. When it comes to the role radiation plays, it is my belief that FEV is the changing force and radiation is drastically accelerating the process.

Sorry mate. I have a rotational schedule between a ____ of fallout video, a weapon video and then a video essay which this falls under. It’ll be a bit of time to get the whole series out there but it’s coming.

I find it interesting how the Fallout Bible, along with Fallout Tactics, and elements from Van Buren exist in a state similar to Star Wars Legends; as in not explicitly canon until confirmed or contradicted.

Dude, the Fallout Bible was even like that *at the time*. Other people within Interplay didn't even agree with some stuff in the thing, and Avellone himself said that it wasn't explicitly canon, it was just his take on the lore.

Avellone is kind of a douchebag, from what I've seen. Like he thinks he's the king of any game he touches, no matter how small his contribution is, and is constantly talking over other devs even if the other dev definitely knows more about the subject. Interplay asked him not to publish it because it contracted things they had both planned for future games and already in-game, but he pretty much gave them the middle finger and did it anyway.

Lol it's true Irl I'm not a religious person, but with games I'm like. "oooo... this game has a paladin class" I even tend to gravitate to warrior builds because heavy armor looks the coolest to me. In Tes and find my self saying "Talos is a god, it's the nine Devines not eight!" So when the BoS are referred to as a techno-religious cult-like military order, I'm all in baby! I know it was added after Bethesda started making fallout, but who dosen't love Liberty Prime.

Good thing is that at least some things from the Fallout Bible ended up in the main Canon (like the European Commonwealth-Middle East war, although it's only mentioned in a Capitol Post issue in Fallout 3)

Imagine if Maxson and his men stayed in that base with those scientists for 11 years before starting the exodus? Lol I’m so glad that got changed. Maxson and company leaving a few days after the bombing of 2077 is a lot better.

i really wish there would be another 2nd gen style fallout game. despite the issues f3 has, its still a great exploration game. theres something special about the atmosphere that these games provide. this makes me want to be 15 again and play them from scratch with no previous memory of this franchise. looking at f4 and 76 i guess this will be nothing more than a dream.

you know what might be cool? since Harold himself formed the first adventuring party, it's not hard to say he was a fallout protagonist himself, i'd love to see a game based around his adventures and the stuff he goes through, though i know it will never happen, it's still an interesting thought.

It’s truly fascinating how the lore changed overtime. Unfortunately this leads to a bunch of contradictions, but it also fleshed out the world. This makes me think of Bungie’s approach to Halo lore where they had multiple contradictory things be true, then later fleshed things out. As a joke you should talk about the “lore” of Fallout Frontier, and how all the devs were a bunch of sickos😂

Yes that’s the one. They had this guy called Zu Skunk who made a bunch of the assets, and other things for the mod. After it’s release people looked into him, and they found out that he drew lots of cub yiff. Another guy made the thing where you can gaslight/emotionally manipulate an underaged girl into thinking that you are the only thing she has in life. She’ll then put on one of those explosive collars, and call you master. In the interview it’s very clear that she was supposed to just be a teenager (in game people will call her a kid, treat her like a kid, and freak out if you let the kid die), and they retroactively made her 21 after the backlash. It was absolutely hilarious how the guy doing the interview was completely incompetent, and read every question. That livestream only made things worse for them😂
