That turret that missed the scientist and the dog is the MK series automatic turret. It is known to have low hit rate, so no wonder it missed those two.

The syringes you see in the show are Stim-paks which are the game's major source of healing. This is one thing that I like in the show. It treats itself like it is the game. When you use a Stim-pak in the game, it heals every thing instantly. Even broken bones. Thus, when you see the Ghoul use it on the dog who is on on death's doorstep, the dog instantly gets up and is 100% healed.

Here is a bit of lore on the Games/Show universe: The games and show are based in an alternate reality where after WW2 it diverged from ours. In this reality mankind didn't invent the transistor until about 100 years later so instead of going through an electronics age (60s-90s) like we did they went through an atomic age where they developed safe and reliable nuclear energy including fusion energy. There were some developments in vacuum tube electronics including some miniaturization but it never got small enough to make ICs. This is why most of the electronics in the games/show look like they are out of the 60s.

Probably my favorite joke in the early episodes is that every time Lucy says, "Okey dokey," it's applied to a less and less desirable situation.

Unlike The Last of Us show the Fallout series is not an adaptation of any of the games but it's own original story set around 9 years after Fallout 4 the latest game in the timeline. The last West Coast Fallout game was New Vegas, both Fallout 3 and Fallout 4 were set on the East Coast. So in relation to New Vegas this series is set around 15 years after Vegas and everything that happened in that game involving West Coast factions and lore. Fallout originally came from Interplay Productions in 1997, followed by Fallout 2 and Fallout Tactics. Bethesda didn't acquire the rights from Interplay until 2007, and their first release in the story was Fallout 3. Most of the elements that make up the Fallout world come from Interplay, not Bethesda, however Bethesda loved the original games, which is why they honoured them so much in the followups.

Ella Purnell is fantastic in this role, her emotional expressions are fantastic. BTW she's the voice actress for Jinx in Arcane. Also props to the little girl playing The Ghouls daughter ep1. Her scared acting was spot on.

The baby foot came out of a gun called the "Junk Jet". You stuff the gun with junk and fire it out at your enemies. The junk jet is also seen by Lucy in the ladies shop when she looks up at the wall at the weapons for sale.

The devices on vault dweller's wrist is called a PipBoy and it's basically an equivalent of our smartphones In the games, it allows you to manage your health stats, inventory, missions, travels...

She used a stimpak on herself it is basically used for boosting the body's regenerative properties.

This show simply takes place in the Fallout universe. It references several games, so if you were to Twitch, there is no one game to play. It feels a lot more like Fallout 3, but it really doesn't matter too much which you play, if you do.

I've finished the series. Don't worry, I'm sure you'll enjoy the show. I've played all of the games (including Fallout Tactics and Shelter). Sure, there're a massive amount of easter eggs in the show, but not a lot of major "inside jokes" that you should worry being left out of.

I'm a 57 year old guy who played games heavily in my twenties. I pretty much quit from 35 to 48(ish), due to work demands, and then resumed. Fallout 3 was one of the first games I played when I resumed, followed immediately by Fallout 4, and Fallout 76 (👎). With the exception of 76, I found the Fallout games the most immersive and enjoyable games I have ever played. They also contain an enormous amount of really clever tongue-in-cheek humor (like the posters and signs which are everywhere). I really think you would enjoy playing them. This series follows general ideas and universe of the game but not too tightly to the actual story.

You understand the Brotherhood perfectly. Their primary mission is to find pre-War technology and keep it safe from pretty much everyone but themselves. The device on Lucy's arm is a RobCo Personal Information Processor, or Pip-Boy for short. It's an insanely useful smart watch with lots of features.

The show story is an original story. It's not based on any of the games. But the aesthetic, the dark humor, the factions and the spirit of the show is exactly like the game. They did a very, very good job. This may be the best video game adaptation so far.

Yeah, you’re probably missing quite a bit when watching this without having played the games. All of the things you’re wondering about are things that ring a bell with us that played the games. For people who haven’t played, this is a nice or great series to watch. For those that have played, this show is close to perfection. The storyline, the music, the humor, the gadgets, the violence, the views: everything is sooo spot on and reminiscent of the games.

Little lore things they don't explain: Caps (Bottle caps, from glass bottles pre-war) are currency. The Enclave (where the doctor and dog are from) are a sect of the Brotherhood who were cast out. Your character in the games is usually a Vault Dweller fresh from a Vault. Stimpaks are from the games and are First Aid items, mostly a mild cure-all. Pip-Boys are all-purpose personal computers, nuclear powered of course, that were issued to Vault-Tec employees and Vault dwellers at the time of their admittance to the Vaults. They serve a wide variety of functions, from interfacing with Vault-Tec systems, to flashlights, radios, maps, journals, and bio-monitors. They're your primary menu system in the games, and someone wearing one in the Wasteland is like walking around with Power Armor: It makes you a target, but less obviously so, and less threateningly so. In game, they come with a targeting subsystem called VATS that lets you automatically aim at parts of an enemy or an object. The modern games also let you just shoot at enemies the expected way, by aiming and firing manually. Old world tech exists and is relatively well understood, but the parts and production facilities obviously don't exist. Much of it is ramshackle or cobbled together, except for factions like the Brotherhood and Enclave devoted to hoarding it. The Fallout timeline splintered from ours after WWII. Nuclear technology was embraced and refined to deliver personal sized devices capable of delivering near indefinite power, hence why many electric things still function, to some degree. Alongside it, Capitalism. There is a timeline shown on a blackboard, briefly as a set piece, later in the show for the major world events. The vibe of the show is very similar to the games. The random, blunt, chaotic world of the Wasteland is very faithfully captured. The Knight, the Vault Dweller, and the Ghoul all encounter situations very familiar to viewers that played the games, but unique enough to still feel fresh. Almost every interaction on screen would be right at home in one of the games.

The thing on the wrist is a Pip-Boy...think big Apple watch. The whole vibe of Fallout is 1950's U.S. but with advanced tech that's nuclear powered.

You have to figure after over 200 years in the vault everyone will be related somehow. All cousins of varying degrees.

It's very much in the spirit of the game series, without just showing the same things we already played through.

The series captures the humor of the games perfectly 😁 The war happened in 2077, Fallouts world is perpetually stuck in 1950's style, where everything is nuclear and transistors where never invented. The series happens in 2296 after the story of Fallout 4. There are animals which are macronized versions of the originals throughout, mostly arthropods. The Bear was a ghoul, animals can be too not only humans.

The canon, lore, settings, and props are pretty true to the Fallout world of the games, but this is an entirely new story that is not a continuation of any of the story arcs in the games. This series takes place about 9 years after Fallout 4, which takes place on the East coast. For game play, I found Fallout 4 the easiest to get in to, followed by Fallout 3. Many people say that Fallout New Vegas is the best, but personally I found that one difficult to hold my attention, but then again, I also enjoy Fallout 76 (which I do not recommend as your first Fallout game.)

So far it is really good. The world is straight from the games and the posters and all the small Easter eggs are well done. The story is original. If you start the game you will notice how cool it is and how good it was done. The music is my favorite part of the game and the show used many from the games

Each entry in the Fallout series is a separate standalone story, including this series. The show is set in the same world as the games, but is it’s own story with its own heroes. The show is set in the same general region as the two earliest games in the series (the Los Angeles/California wasteland), a couple of generations after those games occurred. Later games took place in the vicinity of Washington DC, Las Vegas, and Boston, so the show is kind of a homecoming to a region we haven’t had a good look at since the 90s.

This show is pretty good if you've never played the games but if you have it's next-level amazing.

I actually like this series. I have not been fond of almost anything coming off the movie/tv assembly line these days, but this one actually did it for me. I'm on ep 5 and so far it is sticking the landing. Each game follows its own story. You come into the game as a Vault Dweller from a different vault every time, and you go out of the vault into the Wasteland on an adventure. In Fallout 1, your vault's water purification system is breaking down, and you go out in the Wasteland to find a new part to fix it. In Fallout 3, the vault Overseer is a tyrant taking over the whole vault, and he has you in his sights, so you have to flee the vault. In Fallout 4, you actually start out as a person living before the bombs fell, and you go to a vault and they put you in a cryo chamber, so that you sleep for 300 years and wake up to go out into the wasteland. So each game is its own self-contained story. This show follows its own story, it is set in the world but does not follow the story or characters from any of the games. It is actually a clever way of telling stories in a universe: you can keep changing it from game to game or from season to season and making a totally new story with totally new characters.

This show is its own story set in the Fallout universe. I assume it is canonical. The factions, weapons, technology, creatures, vehicles, etc. - all extremely accurate to modern Fallout games. The lore of the show as it pertains to the general timeline of the Fallout series is also extremely accurate. The three protagonists are all new characters never before seen in a Fallout game, though. The medical thing Lucy injected herself with after she got stabbed was a Stimpak. It's a general purpose healing device that can regenerate tissue for small wounds. That's why she pulled the knife out - so the Stimpak could do its job and start to close up her wound. Also, be aware that some of the things in this show might not entirely jive with the games. For instance, the whole, "feral ghouls can't abide a chicken," thing. That's not something from any of the games as far as I am aware. I'm inclined to believe that the guy who said it just didn't know what he was talking about and it's total BS - sort of an inside joke for Fallout fans. However, it's also possible Bethesda intends to turn it into a thing for future Fallout games, so who knows?

Fallout tv series is not just an adaptation of the fallout video games also canon. Same universe new story new characters.

This show has all of the Lore from the games. It's fun to recognize the foods, monsters, tech and factions from the games, BUT this is a brand new story that's based in the "Fallout" world. I thought it was pretty good from the start, but Trust Me, it gets Better as you go further along.

The show has zero game characters and zero game storylines. And that was to be expected. Each game is set in a different year (sometimes 5 years after the last game, sometimes 40) and in a different area of the USA (Boston area, Las Vegas area, Washington area, Los Angeles area, etc.), and even between games there are rarely characters that appear in multiple chapters. The common denominator is that usually the protagonist is a Vault dweller (from a different Vault each time) that has to go out to the surface for one reason or another. This adaptation is *PERFECT* in that it uses very well the setting, but is an entirely new story, as is tradition. ❤

As someone who has played all of the Fallout Games, the first few episodes of the Fallout TV show left me with plenty of questions. It's an original story, not specifically based on any one game. And I think that was the right choice. I recommend playing Fallout, Fallout 2, or Fallout: New Vegas... maybe even Fallout 4. I will admit that Fallout and Fallout 2 are perhaps a bit inaccessible for modern gamers. They're from the 1990s and it shows. I don't know what kind of games you like. I, personally, consider Fallout (the original) to be one of the best games of all time - an exemplar of it's genre, but that doesn't necessarily mean it's genre is the kind of game you'd like.

Hint, Always watch reviews of the game you want to play and all versions of it before deciding on with one you like and suits you best. I suggest, Fall Out 3 then New Vegas then Fall out 4. They're the best of the series..........But that's just my opinion.........

It's easy to be one of us guys. Just sink hundreds of hours into the Fallout games! I think the show mostly does a good job of introducing you to what you need to know. If it tried to tell you everything, it'd be too much information at once.

I was a little skeptical, as I always am about video game adaptions, but just on what you showed hear I feel that I really need to watch this. It looks like a lot of fun. Never played the games much, a little bit of New Vegas, but I tend to get overwhelmed and lose interest with open world games, so I only was like halfway through it.

The show runners and producers assume you have base knowledge of the fallout universe. So Biss here is some back story for you. Will keep it as spoiler free as I can. The basic idea here is the world fell into a massive nuclear war. The rich people and those deemed important to the human race were allowed sanctuary in underground vaults. The vaults were meant to keep these people alive until it was safe to return to the surface. Once people return to the surface different factions came to be in different areas of North America. Vault 31, 32, and 33 are located in what used to be the Los Angeles/San Bernadino California metro. The New California Republic rose as the big political power here. The brotherhood of steel is more complicated but in simple terms they are a military like cult that worships technology. They believe they should be the sacred guardians of all tech, and nobody else should prosper from it. Ghouls are irradiated humans that somehow survived the nuclear fallout on the surface. New people aren't going to know these things so it's probably a bit confusing at first. Ohhh the raiders are basically generic pirates on the surface. You would like the games lol. Fallout 3, fallout new vegas, and fallout 4 are all fantastic!

This show isn’t just inspired by the game, it’s like there was a weird experiment that happened in the storyline of the game that shot out this gem into our reality for us to enjoy…

The world and lore are basically spot on, as is the soundtrack, but the show doesn't follow the story of any of the games. There's going to be people who complain, because people do like to complain. I've finished the series, and put lots of time into the games, and I loved this. If you ever decide to play the games, despite the general high praise for Fallout: New Vegas, I think Fallout 4 is probably the easiest for new players to get into, because of the improvements since 3 and after that New Vegas. Including character creation being much better, and general graphics and gameplay improvements. I've played those three a lot, and I think Fallout 4 and 3 probably are the best intros to it, in that order. Then hours in, and the feeling accomplishment of finishing one newer game, it's an easier ask to go back later to play 3 and New Vegas, and maybe later still, go even further back if ok with something that old. Not everyone is, so that's why I say that.

The Fallout world shown here is very similar to the games but each game is another region. If you wish to try it out, I would choose Fallout 3, 3 New Vegas or Fallout 4 with Fallout 3 New Vegas as the best one fitting this game. It’s in a close region (though the timeline is earlier) and some of the same factions exist there.
