I feel like a lot of the criticism is 'true hard-core fallout fans' tugging themselves off . As a casual fallout enjoyer, I quite enjoyed the series. I'm not slavering over 'omg, fallout sounds', but there's a fairly faithful adaption of the Bethesda series of fallout games (which have been around for over 15 years at present), and the plot holes leave scope for series 2 as well as asserting some of the Bethesda lore alluded to in previous games.

That bonus that they were gonna give them for getting an 85 on Metacritic got pulled and they were on their own. AND YET despite the adversities that befell Obsidian during that time; they knuckled down, fixed as many bugs as they could while also delivering absolute banger tier DLC, and as a result it’s a masterpiece of a Fallout game to many. And why? Because they actually GAVE A SHIT. Todd, Emil and Bethesda don’t, it’s evident in how they carry themselves and how they treat the franchise. Ever since people adored New Vegas, we’ve been shit on passive aggressively and treated like the red headed stepchild of Bethesda’s community because we dared go against Todd’s status quo. But I’m fucking done dealing with that pompous prick and his fragile ego. Not only has he had a hate boner for New Vegas all this time, and treated the fallout community like shit as a result; he continued to throw a hissy fit by trashing the West Coast lore with this abysmal TV show. Personally; Microsoft needs to eject Todd and Emil from the company and put people in charge that aren’t biased towards their own work, and don’t harbor a grudge towards the writers who, yknow, WROTE THE FIRST TWO FUCKING GAMES. A friend told me the story, I did not believe and begin watching, lost tons of braincells too. Those responses make perfect sense, if they don't watch the show a couple of times (no more than twice or total lobotomy is ensured)

And reasonably, this TV show would be better off in its own continuity like how The Legend of Zelda branches into different timelines based on whether the Hero of Time successfully defeats Ganon or not, and following either Zelda or Link after the former sends Link back in time. …But instead, Bethesda tries to play damage control. Why would Shady Sands _not_ have been nuked in 2277 if the final points to an explosion? The "fall" means that settlement went under.

Of course they had to shit on NCR, its from Obsidian game, which just happens to be the best entry in the whole series by far, and that being the general notion among the Fallout fans. Despite the fact that in Fallout 1, hiring water merchants to deliver water to the Vault 13 gave away its location. Or that the Supermutant Army will invade every location if you don't destroy the Master at the Cathedral and the FEV vats at the Mariposa Military Base.

While they do call it the triennial trade, there is no evidence to suggest there has actually been a recent trade of individuals with vault 32, given that the youngest vault dwellers shown are products of trades involving 31. Perhaps the triennial trade merely keeps its name from past centuries rather than literally being held every three years during the last generation or so

Now, I have to ask, why would you expect the show series to be any different considering the source material it draws from? And why would it need to be? I can't imagine how hard it would be to take a franchise with as much established lore as Fallout, find a starting point based on where we are now at the end of Fallout 4, and then tell a story properly without having to make it fast paced and quick hitting. They had to keep the ball rolling quickly since they had no idea if there would be enough support to even warrant a second season. This isn't HBO and Game of Thrones where they literally threw money at it and told the creators and producers to take as much time as they need with as many seasons as it takes. Damn fellas! We're lucky we got this series at all, and we will be even more lucky if a season 2 actually happens. I'll be quite happy to watch season 2 myself, even if it has its flaws. I think more people need to take the perspective that this is a Fallout story and apply that logic to what they see on screen. Act as if you're watching a video game play out. Sure, call out any lore issues or plot holes as necessary (I'm perfectly reasonable here). But to suggest that characters being in the right place at the right time merely by happenstance is somehow unprecedented would be doing the games themselves an injustice. They would get obliterated if we tried to apply this logic and would immediately be dismissed as nothing more than one long and drawn-out inevitable contrivance. Every game has a vault dweller who becomes the alpha god of their environment, which is obviously stupid if we want to be this literal. Anyway.....just sayin.

Whereas Hank even got the opportunity to travel past where the actual Shady Sands (since to my knowledge shady sands wasn’t too far from The Highway going through the divide) would’ve been in California to reach North Vegas by the way he did instead of more reasonably travelling the I15 to get to South Vegas, all in what seems to be a day or evening just in power armour given how fresh his wound seems to be and the time of day. Tis all probably a nitpick again but I do feel the logistics are a valuable tidbit :].

I saw it more of a comedy than a faithful adaptation. Almost satire, so I liked it.

Fallout 4 shows the vaults have radiation detectors in their entrances. Which is technically a retcon but a sensible one and makes sense within the universe. And then the show retcons that because "mUh pLoT" I guess...

They even discuss how leaks happen in the vault sometimes, so surely they would have their geiger counters on at ALL times so that if a leak does happen, it can be detected as soon as possible.

So you enjoy watching undeserved hatred because of a show everyone else liked? If you and Emily had it your way buddy, Fallout would still be a cult classic rather than a videogame series. New Vegas would not even exist if Bethesda didn't step in and task Obsidian with making the game.

@@MLPDethDealr32 No it wouldnt have because Van Buren was a completely different story but still retained the idea that the player would eventually encounter a war torn NCR that was nuked to oblivion because the devs wanted it. They wanted the NCR to canonically make too many enemies which would have forced it into constant war. Van Buren would have been New Vegas, but not the vegas that is memorable to us to this day, and it wouldn't have been any better than what we have now because New Vegas also ends up being destroyed in the conflicts that the NCR brought upon it in Van Buren canon. Also, Joshua Graham wouldn't have been the same character either. He was meant to be more evil in Van Buren whereas in HH he's just a man trying to redeem himself.

I was reading this and thought to myself "it can't get worse" and then it got worse. Its so bad I'm struggling to believe its true but... How the hell do they describe a show with "funny incest" as the immediate thing that comes to mind when thinking about the comedic aspects, then say its "brilliant social commentary". "Rich capitalists want to be rich with capital by destroying the capital", and somehow they don't spot the issue? Honestly, I wanted to disregard this as false, but given the defences i've seen for this show, I believe it.

I feel like a majority liked the show, however if you don’t like it doesn’t have to be canon to you, that’s the glory of every gaming taking place in its own corner of the wastelands.

@@doomlover9762 The problem is with the games. Sure I can play the older games or even go at it playing tabletop. But whenever a new Fallout game comes out it will be tied to the new canon. Making me enjoy it a lot less. By Bethesda acting in this way with the canon, they are estranging the older fans. When you are dependent on the fans to buy every new iteration, it behooves you to listen to those fans. I will stop writing now before I accidentaly write an entire script.

Ghouls only go feral from being exposed to constant high levels of radiation. 95% of the non feral ghouls you’ve seen in previous games never near radiation and the feral ones are.

U also probably should keep your beliefs and opinions out of this like with hollywood being filled with "commies" and being "woke", they really don't care about that stuff, they're just business entrepenuers who are trying to make as much money as they can be pretending to be inclusive, but the reality is that they probably don't care at all, they people there are only interested in profits and if they say the right stuff to a certain crowd, they get their dough. These companies or people in Hollywood don't really care how you feel or others feel, even if it supports something I believe in. They don't care for neither of us. They only see us as potential customers.

I see two possibilities where this makes sense: a) the drug is relatively new and it isn't required to stay non-feral, it just delays the process once you begin to turn feral, which is different for every ghoul. In New Vegas we have pre war non feral ghouls like Raul, and really recent feral ghouls like the NCR soldiers at Camp Searchlight. So becoming feral has always been pretty inconsistent. b) the drug doesn't really work, it's purely a placebo that reinforces a ghoul's will not to become feral. They are just selling a lie. I don't see how this conflicts with the lore.

I believe when ghouls start seeing signs of turning feral they start taking the ghoul vials, to slow down the process. in episode 4 the ghouls buddy mentions he been 20 years since he started showing signs of turning feral.

I think the implications is that they don't need whatever the magical elixir is until they start turning feral, which is separate from the point when they actually become ghouls. whenever their brain is sufficiently impact my radiation which varies from person to person. so if billy in the fridge didn't start turning feral than he wouldn't have needed anything to survive. there is still a pretty big question mark over the ghouls, this process and whatever the product is but i don't think it breaks the lore at this point

Billy in the Fridge is just a random encounter and has no bearing on the overall nor was he being exposed to high levels of radiation for those 200 years( which the lore clearly says that this is what leads to going feral).
