I just hope it's tonally dark. That's the key to what makes Fallout work, I think. Yes you can have goofy - VERY occasionally. But you need that dark tone first and foremost. Of raiders attacking water caravaners. Of super-mutants abducting people for "Unity". Of Vault-Tec's legacy being staggering cruelty to people who never deserved it. And of our heroes final reward being "good job, well done, now go and die someplace else". Nail the dark tone, and you get Fallout. Miss it and you'll have a generic western with power armour.

Yeah oppenheimer technically did exist in the fallout universe, the fallout universe diverges from our real world history after ww2 where nuclear power was fully embraced and transistors weren't even invented till the 2070s hence the computers never advanced past 1970s level. But they made great advances in robotics and AI. Also the cold war never went away but America's enemy shifted from the soviets to the ccp.

You can find a crashed on in fallout tactics and i cant remember if it was cut content or not but there are terminal entries about the Prydwen that mention her sister ships. As for the name of the airship it was in the concept art released at the same time as the trailer. Thats how we know the show takes place in LA in 2296 and that the BoS airship is called the Caswennan. Which means DC brotherhood are back as the west coast chapters have been mostly wiped out

@@daxlucero2437it's not thr Prydwen. In the lore the Brotherhood had at the very least a dozen airships, most of which were destroyed when they attempted to cross the Rockies. The Prydwen was one of, if not the only survivor of the trip to the East Coast. It stands to assume the Western Brotherhood built more since that initial journey years before Fallout 4.

@@svenjones4371 Especially since they just don't learn. Sure, the trailer here looks visually gorgeous and I like the music but the dialogue (and humor) doesn't look good. I'm already expecting the series to not follow Fallout canon whatsoever (especially after Bethesda making jet a pre-war drug even though it was after the war) and have terrible writing (which Bethesda is notorious for). It looks like the same search quest like Fallout 3 and 4 (search for my father for the former and search for my son for the latter). We'll see though. Nowadays, it's better to not have your expectations that high.

Now it comes down to what YOU think is a fallout fan. That’s subjective, so if that doesn’t make me a fallout fan because I played 76 and 4? That’s fine. But for ME, if you didn’t play those games at least a couple of hours then you’re not a real fallout fan. For ME, I enjoyed fallout 4 and 76 is mid. Maybe we can have some common ground on 76.

Sure...let's be real 76 kinda dropped the ball especially in the lore department but they still have some redeeming qualities. To say that a "true fan" would just not play them at all is...kinda mind boggling and a weird form of gate keeping imo. Well straight off the bat it looks like they really abandoned the 50’s aesthetic that you get in any Fallout game trailer. I’m definitely cautious about this.

It’s got that FO 3 drabness mixed with the dash of vibrancy FO4 introduced. I know you’re more likely than not referring to Fallout 1 & 2 when you say “the older games”, but I think that applies to FO3 as well. 4 and 76 is where we started to see some real color introduced, 76 being an absolute explosion on that front. New Vegas is somewhere in between but there’s still a heavy emphasis on browns and other neutral colors.

@@marston_ Fallout games have become known for their humor and having B movie action/horror. This show reflects that pretty well. Not everyone's cup of tea, and yea it's written like a Marvel movie. Doesn't make it bad. Even things like character armor and plot convenience seems intentional in the show because it lends itself to Fallout game logic: Like how a stimpak can heal broken bones and fatal wounds. How characters seem to be able to fast travel in the show. How turrets have 2% accuracy and people can outrun them. Not a perfect show, but certainly among the better video game adaptions.

There's just something about the mix of retro-future scifi and post-apocalypse that makes Fallout so appealing to me. It's like all the atomic era's hopes, fears, and crazy speculations, all ramped to a high level. I don't expect the show to be perfect, but I do hope that it is going to be very good and hopefully worth more seasons.

This looks incredible, my dad was a massive fallout fan, clocked 1408 hours in fallout new vegas and 1603 hours into fallout 4, he sadly passed in 2018 and I used to remember always seeing him play Fallout and him saying they should make a show or movie about Fallout and now they have, he would have loved this show and watching this I felt like I was watching the trailer with him it brought a tear to my eye to see something that he wanted to happen become reality, amazing work Amazon, you guys nailed the look of the world of Fallout, cant wait

I'm both excited and horrified. I love fallout. The most fundamental reason is the storytelling. I feel like there are very few people around that could write a story to the level of what fallout does, and the interaction of the player with the game and also in the reverse direction will make it a very difficult production. I think people will either love it or hate it, and a great deal of people just won't care for it. I hope they nail it, I really do.

@@artvandellay Fallout nukes are not real life nukes. They are dirty bombs the size of the Fatman/Littleboy. They leave behind much more radiation and for way longer than their real life counterparts. That's why the wasteland is still so uninhabitable 200 years later. Look up the Castle Bravo and Tsar Bomba nukes on youtube. Those would absolutely destroy that observatory if it was dropped in the same area. Not just the initial blast would be much larger. The shockwave from the Tsar Bomba would be so insanely more powerful than the bombs seen in the show. You can see the initial blast from the closest bomb does not touch the observatory and the shockwave doesn't seem to drop much of the buildings before it so I don't see why it would drop a sturdy building on a large hill.

The fact that they paid so much attention to detail from the trailer alone makes me feel like This series is going to try it's best to bring the fallout world to life. And not just another cash grab using the Fallout IP.

@@CPorter Very bad idea. Original Fallout had a pretty dark ambient tracks for gameplay, "Maybe" was there just for an intro. Putting 60s music as gameplay tracks (movie tracks) is a terrible idea, cause it gives warm and loving vibes to a dark and violent reality that supposed to be shown (cause that was in the original game). But than again, bethesda ruined the game completely and made it into something different that's not a fallout anymore, even their first game (part 3) was a complete garbage compared to original. If this is the way they are going, well hopefully it will not be as shitty as the game. I don't have high hopes tho...

Expect at least a couple of songs so old they are already in the public domain. The show runners would be stupid to not use stuff in the public domain, it fits the aesthetic and they don't have to pay for it.

Crossing my fingers and hoping this show captures the essence of the game. I really want it to be good. The attention to detail and the atmosphere shown in the trailer gives me a glimmer of hope. I'm excited to see how they'll bring the Fallout universe to life, especially with a character like Lucy. The balance of dark, violent elements with a touch of humor is key. If they manage to maintain the quirky, zany spirit of Fallout along with its darker undertones, this could be an epic series. Let's just hope it doesn't disappoint!

So…… I just finished episode 8 and uh…… Holy Crap!!!!! This show changes everything we’ve come to accept about the Fallout and series The Vaults in particular. Very curious to see how this show turns out later on
