Exploring my experience with false memory OCD & how it impacted my life. OCD is so creative & it can even make you doubt your own memories making you believe something happened that didn’t. See how we can respond differently to these false memories & intrusive thoughts.

My OCD definitely goes toward false memories a lot. It is truly horrible. Even trying to remember conversations that happened long ago that end up just creating false memories. I find that my brain is sucked into my ‘feared situation’ and uses whatever it can in my mind to make it seem like a reality. It’s the feeling that makes us react in panic. Because they feel so real, it’s hard in the moment to have a sense of clarity and objectivity on reality. I’m so happy for you that are you much better now. 🙏

I’m sorry to hear you also experience false memories with your OCD it can be so confusing & scary. I try my best once I start being aware I’m doubting a memory to treat it the same as an intrusive thought & let it be there with as least involvement as possible. It will keep trying to get your attention but in practicing detached mindfulness or meta cognitive therapy for OCD, the thoughts or mental compulsions to ruminate over the thoughts decrease in volume. I find this is when I get clarity that these imagined memories didn’t in fact happen & it was OCD trying to trick me into ruminating in an attempt to keep me locked in the cycle of trying to work it out. I hope this information helps you, I truly understand how difficult this is & I wish you all the best! Kirsty 😊❤️ Xx

Thanks for making this and talking with honesty about what is a horrendous condition to suffer from. It’s like our minds turn against us with ocd and torment us and ruin our peace of mind

It really can feel like torture at times but we can get better. I now understand OCD so much more & I’m aware of all the tricks it likes to play on us. That being said sometimes it can feel so loud, self compassion is so important we deserve freedom from OCD not to have it push us around. I really hope this channel is helping you! 😊

In my 2 year journey of dealing with this I'll tell ya there is nothing worse. You can't think about anything else but your thoughts and false memories. I live and breath the fear everyday all the time 😢

Most definitely you can certainly get better from false memories. When I started my therapy which for me was meta cognitive therapy/detached mindfulness & when I consistently practised this, the clarity I gained over my thoughts was immense. You realise how much OCD lies & twists things, as I was much calmer & able to think more clearly. I know how hard all this can be so be kind to yourself, I wish you all the best! Kirsty 😊❤️

What I love the most is my wife and all I can see is other people sleeping with her even though she's laying next to me 😔 I can't handle the thought of someone else being with her, it just haunts me 24/7
