“Glorious,” raved the New York Times when Joyce DiDonato sang the title role of Cendrillon at the Royal Opera in 2011. “Her performance was thoroughly enchanting.” Now, for the first time ever, Massenet’s sumptuous take on the Cinderella story comes to the Met, with DiDonato starring in the title role. She is paired with mezzo-soprano Alice Coote in the trouser role of Prince Charming, Kathleen Kim as the Fairy Godmother, and Stephanie Blythe as the imperious Madame de la Haltière. Bertrand de Billy conducts Laurent Pelly’s imaginative storybook production.

Utterly divine and clever and funny... Kim steals the show with her energy... a dream of a show... one I adore... would have loved to see it 'in the flesh'... my all time favourite Cendrillon... Bravo ....

Katherine kim has such a pure sounds👑 It was a great production & great casting!!!!!!! Met audience 들은 Katherine 사랑합니다 😊😊😊

We watched this production on TV and were enchanted. All the sopranos were distinctly different but all were incredible! I have to say Kim was my favorite voice. Charming production, staging, et al. I wish I could find this on DVD... doesn't seem to be available on the Met site.

It's available on-demand; you have to subscribe but trust me, the library of opera is immense!
