when i was elementary school age, I went to the stores with my granny every weekend. i remember scales you could stand on and it would also tell your fortune. It cost a penny. lol. That era is around the same years of these episodes. I love having those nice little memories triggered by older tv shows! I remember paid toilets too in kentucky. a penny or dime i think. ❤

During the intro when the Grossman family was introduced, the camera was too far back. You could see the sign sliding out extruding out of the left side. That probably rarely happened but then again there were a lot of rare moments when they started the show.

It seems like they stopped passing once RD decided everyone was familiar enough with the rules that he didn't have to explain them every time. Maybe he should have kept doing it...

According to the cpi inflation calculator, $5000 in 1976 is worth $21,989 in 2017...........Good ole inflation...

Pretty much nearly $2,000 more than the current Fast Money payout ($20,000).

Most people wouldn't think of a coin as a money when posed this question. They'd first think of a portrait on a dollar bill.

Odd... They used the same side of the survey board for the last two questions.

Maybe so they wouldn't have to put the "Double" signs on both sides of the board?

Yeah, odd. I figured FDR would be one of the answers since he's on the dime.

I assumed they were looking for somebody on paper money as soon as I heard the question.

Edited, yep: "Portions of the program not affecting the outcome of the competition have been edited." So odd there were no applause during the fast money survey results.
