Ironic that the broach was the sign for I love you which Richard would eventually do at the end of each Feud episode until its cancellation!!

It’s interesting to watch this particular set of episodes. The show he just started and they were still trying to figure out the formula. You don’t see Richard Dawson kissing any of the women on this one which he would eventually become famous for on the show. You don’t have the contest and shake hands before they answer the question up at the podium. And Richard does not seem comfortable in the role of MC yet. Lucky for us they finally got it all figured out and it rolls smoothly. But it’s just interesting to watch these early episodes and see the differenceFrom where it started to wear it became so famous.

$5000 in 1976 would be equivalent to just under $21,000 now. Not bad.

Um, I don't buy that figure. Afterall, $5,000.00 was more than 1/4 on the purchase of a 4 bedroom home on a Cul-de-sac, too!

Today that's slightly more than the winning prize for the Harvey-era Fast Money round ($20,000).

74 said Nixon. He resigned in 74. Can't make this stuff up

That is such a weird coincidence.

When Jim answered "Nixon," Richard looked almost as if it took everything he had not to say something nasty (@4:42). Dude. It wasn't Jim's fault! ;-).

family feud from 1976 is so much different than what it is now with Steve Harvey, its so much more serious in the earlier ones

And that's what made the show such a smash hit back then. Today it may still be a hit but it's far from as great as it was back in these days of style and class.

1976 was the first year of Family Feud, it loosened up before long. Richard would chat with the contestants, tell jokes and kiss the women.
