The Democratic Republic of Congo has become more gender equal over the past years - at least in law, and slowly also in practice. Since 2015, a new Law on Parity promotes women’s participation in all sectors of society and since 2016, a revised Family Code grants Congolese women the right to freely decide how they choose to earn their living.
