I watched this live on the storm chasers live feed and it was graphic, and I haven't seen a news outlet show the graphic footage until now. This is also the first story where they actually said who the chaser was by name, and he certainly deserves the praise! thank you!

I know them pretty well and they are family friends and I saw them 2 days after and I hung out with the boy for the whole day and gave in a lot of gifts

People tend to denigrate storm chasers without understanding what the field is actually about. Yes, the storms themselves are fascinating and it's human nature to want to understand our environment (this is actually pivotal to human survival), but the byproduct of this is that these people are usually the first on the scene and able to offer attention, support and physical help to victims long before first responders can get there. Almost all of these people are part of charity efforts also, gathering funds for disaster relief or sharing the information for their viewers all over the world to do so. That's a hell of a lot more than "traditional" media usually do. You'll notice CBS didn't even suggest that viewers could donate to a charity to help support victims of these events, but that kind of information is often permanently on the screens of the storm chasers who stream this kind of event live, they put it in their information for their videos, they shoot videos of the days after these events to keep people updated and encourage more support.
