This stepmother was worse. She was willing to let her stepdaughter go and live out on the streets, not caring what had happened to her. Cinderella was mistreated by her stepmother in other ways, but she had a house to live in and a bed to sleep in. This stepmother is more like Snow White's stepmom and Hansel and Gretel's stepmom. The ending reminds me of the true story of Joseph and his brothers, though. Joseph's brothers were jealous of Joseph and hated him. They sold him into slavery, and he spent many hard years away from his family. Later, when his brother needed help, Joseph saved their lives. (See Genesis chapters 37-50.)
